I haven't written in a while, so forgive me if this is a faulty work. This is originally intended to be a oneshot, but I might write a second chapter later if I feel like it. Constructive criticism is welcome!

Luke's POV

"The tree. You must poison her tree." muttered Kronos.

Something inside me, something that I had not felt in a long time, rebelled against the order. "No." I said without thinking.

"What?!" Anger swept through the presence which resided below me, and a flare of pain exploded in my skull. A cry escaped my lips. I fell down to my knees on the cold, hard ground.

"Do you not see, son of Hermes?" Kronos said, in a dangerous tone. "The gods, the traitors, they have dishonored her! Zeus did that only so that the camp would remember his so-called pity. Go!"

And with that, I was swept into an immortal wind. My feet landed on the familiar landscape of Half-Blood Hill. I looked around, surveying the area. I found nothing threatening. Satisfied, I reached into my pocket, drawing out a keychain. Puzzled, I thought, What?

The keychain flashed and transformed into a bow, laden with a single arrow. The arrow had a blood-colored liquid smeared onto its tip. I knew what I had to do.

You can't! My last shred of a conscience cried in my head. It's Thalia! Don't you remember!

Memories flashed through my head, temporarily obscuring the hill before me. As each memory flew through my mind, the indecision grew greater. Also, Kronos' words echoed in my head insistently, as if he knew I was going through this indecision. Thalia or Kronos. Thalia or Kronos.

My hands smoothly flew to the bow and let the arrow fly. It struck the tree trunk, and surprisingly, pierced it through. The arrow shimmered and disintegrated.

I did not even realize what I had done at first. Kronos' power had consumed me. A bitter tear formed in my eye.

How is it? There is something I can't quite place that's wrong with this story, perhaps it's too short. Maybe someome else can find it. Please review!
