A short Kataangish drabble from Katara's perspective. It came out of nowhere and I thought that maybe you guys might like it.

She likes the silence, mostly because it's during the times where she's alone that her thoughts and emotions are easier to decipher. Her eyes close, ears picking up the sound of the waves crashing against the shores and rocks while delving deep into her mind. She breathes in slowly and then breathes out the same, smelling the faint smell of salt in the air.

Being a water bender Katara feels connected to her natural element more than any other. Ever since she could remember the water always made her feel calm and safe. When she was younger she'd walk to a place she claimed as her own secret haven, a place where she could see the ocean spread far and far away. She's always wanted to know what was beyond it, what lead to the end of that ocean, and at night she'd often dream of the many possibilities.

Although she felt comfortable surrounded by water, she was getting used to being around the air. Back at home all she knew was water and what it contributed for her people, her tribe. The more time she spends with Aang (more than just the Avatar to her) the more she begins to enjoy the feel of the wind blowing her hair loopies across her face, the way it tickled her cheeks and the way the wind seemed to wrap around her as if it was protecting her in some way.

The wind reminds her of Aang: constantly devoted to being around her. So when Aang extends his hand to her she accepts, and then feels as if she was floating ten feet in the air alongside him.
