What Once Was
Prologue
Sasuke sat on a tree branch staring at the velvety night sky, wondering what to do next. He had killed Itachi; Kabuto was who knows where, not that he mattered. He had finally told Madara to get lost and find another tool. The only thing left for him to do was to produce an heir to bring his clan back to its former power and rank and he was in no hurry to do that. Since he had killed Itachi, he now ranked as one of the strongest ninja in the world. He had a team of ninja who followed him for various unknown reasons. Karin just wanted to get in his pants. Juugo was staying because Sasuke was the only one who could control him when the curse took over. As for Suigetsu, no one knew why he was staying. But now that Sasuke had achieved his most pressing goal, he didn't know what to do next. He planned to return to Konoha when he wanted to revive his clan but he didn't want to do that yet, he was only 16!
He knew there was a bar and hotel nearby where they could stay for the night. He humped down out of the tree to land in the middle of the triangle formed by his team, immediately cutting off whatever insults Karin and Suigetsu had been throwing at each other.
"Breaks over, we're heading out."Sasuke ordered.
"About time. Where to?" asked Suigetsu, standing up and hanging Zabuza's sword on his back.
Sasuke didn't answer; he just leaped into the trees and took off southwest with the others fanning out behind him.
