A Novel Idea

Summary: Jennifer tries to get Rodney to read a certain book...

I've had this on my USB drive since... I don't even know when, it was so long ago. It was a drabble based on a list of themes by BiteMeTechie that I can barely even remember where I got from but anyways, it's one of three drabbles I wrote once upon a very long while ago. Right then, here's theme number 219: Book.

"It's a book."

Rodney couldn't understand what made this particular book so special.

"It's not just a book, it's more than that. It-it's like... the holy grail of books."

Yes, she went there; Jennifer Keller, the beautiful, smart, sexy girlfriend of Rodney McKay just compared a book to the holy grail. Rodney was beginning to doubt his girlfriend's sanity. He seriously doubted the story was good enough to start up a new religion over. Like he said before, it was just a book.

"The holy grail is a small red sphere that glows. I doubt a book can do that."

"You don't get it. It's... the story is so intricate, so involved."

"Uh-huh..."

"It is! You know, I could order the series from earth. Or I could borrow them from my friend, Stacy... she's the one who suggested I read them in the first place. Anyway, you should at least try to read the first one."

Did she seriously just suggest he try reading the series?!

"What?! Oh, no... no, no, no, no, no."

"Aww... why not?"

Rodney hated it when she pouted like that. It meant he was gonna lose... badly.

"Well, uh, it's, um... for one thing, it's a book for teens."

She loved it when he stammered. It was at the same time adorably cute and endearingly sexy.

"True..." she conceded. "but the story is classic. I think you might even like it."

Rodney sighed. "We'll see."

"Great!" Having won, Jennifer kissed him... soundly. After pulling away she paused for a moment, considering, before leaning in to whisper something in his ear. "Hmm..." she murmured. "you're definately my Edward."

Head still spinning from a lack of oxygen, Rodney just sat there staring into space as Jennifer left. After a moment or two he shook his head out of the fog and thought about what she'd said. His eyes widened and his voice raised several octaves.

"Who's Edward?!"

Hmm... I wonder what book she read. Here's a hint: the movie was a terrible disappointment. Review! (The fan-fic that is, not the horrible movie... I saw it too, and believe me when I say, I can literally go on for hours about its faults...)
