Note Just another fic I wrote over my vacation, although I've been meaning to write this for a couple weeks now. I even made an LJ icon about it. It's also a bit drabbley.

Mary Jane

There they are sitting hunched over two textbooks. It's so strange with Harry wearing his glasses and Peter without his. Mr. Osborne went to pick up Aunt May (Peter's aunt, not mine, but we all call her that).

I fidget in my chair as Peter explains a Calculus problem to Harry. I resist the urge to drum my fingers against the arms of the chair. Calculus goes right over my head. Actually, almost all math goes over my head past long division.

I look out at the night and sigh inwardly. Today is Harry's nineteenth birthday, but he has a major Calculus test tomorrow.

I glance back over at them and sigh outwardly now. They don't seem to notice – Peter is explaining a graph again. Harry struggles but they are both college students and I'm not for a reason.

Harry takes off his glasses and rubs the bridge of his nose. He puts them back on and gives Peter an odd look. I follow Harry's gaze and watch Peter debate something. Expecting an excuse, Harry and I exchange glances just bfore Peter shakes himself, obviously deciding to forego whatever he does in favor of Harry's birthday.

"Are you okay?" Harry asks.

Peter nods almost numbly and then they dive back into Calculus, leaving me simply watching them and waiting for Aunt May and Mr. Osborne to arrive.

Harry

Mary Jane asked to switch me seats on the bus ride back to school after our field trip. I had just sat down by Peter when she tapped me on the shoulder.

Now I'm sitting next to Lisa, one of Mary Jane's friends. We haven't spoken to each other and there's nothing else to do but watch Peter and Mary Jane. She's worried and I'm not sure if Peter even knows she's there.

Half way through the field trip, Peter started acting weird. He practically slept through lunch and staggered through the rest of the trip, not asking for a picture once. I didn't know what to do, but I kept him from stumbling into things at least.

Right now, Mary Jane is getting him to talk. I tried and failed at that. She's asking him things and keeping him awake. I watch her turn to Flash and say something. His voice rises so almost the whole bus can hear him and then he quiets. I think she wants him to take Peter home with them.

I look away. I can do nothing now.

Peter

I know it was a lame excuse, but I had to just get out of there. I know that I could have gone to my room, but I think getting out of the apartment was the best. Harry, MJ, and I are best friends, but I think that they like being alone.

Of course when I want to be needed as Spider-Man, I'm not sensing anything. We were up in Harry and my apartment, and we got quiet. We stared at each other and I just had to get out. I don't remember what I said, but my excuses are pathetic.

Sitting on a bench, I sigh, looking around. Then my ears prick and I stand up, getting out of view quickly. Spider-Man has a job to do.
