He didn't mean to ask.

Or, maybe he did. Curiosity always got the better of him.

The question –

"Why do you love The Beatles so much?"

- was stupid, anyways.

So why did she answer? Even though there was a hesitation, she gave him a smile, and kept moving to the beat of the song.

"There's no reason to love music."

They usually didn't talk when together.

They liked their company because of the peace between them.

Quiet, quiet, quiet.

That's all there has ever been.

"Why does The Little Prince watch the sunset so many times?" She asks this, her eyes still closed, her body still moving around his room.

He has no answer, so he stays quiet.

"Because there's no reason to watch it."

She keeps on jumping and singing, a blush on her cheeks because, she told him once why she got embarrassed when she sang in front of him.

("I can't sing, Eli. Neither can you. No one can. Everyone is auto tuned.")

Even The Beatles?

("No, you idiot. They can sing.")

Oh.

He hears her sigh. She's tired already? That's a surprise. Her body lands on the bed next to him.

"I want to watch the sunset for no reason, too," she says quietly, her arms outstretched in front of her.

A smile graces his face. He doesn't respond because he doesn't have an answer.

He never does.

("I'm socially awkward.)

Really? So that's why you have a girlfriend, Goldsworthy?

("We're both socially awkward.")

And so she never has a concrete answer, either.

Great.

"I wish I could sing well for no reason," she says again, more quiet than before, making him get closer to her.

But you can –

No. She can't.

The Beatles are a special occurrence, you idiot.

He socked himself mentally because – no one can sing.

"I wish I could love you for no reason," she whispers, and this time she can't hear her. He only sees her lips move.

She blushes, covering her face.

("You can't fall in love without a reason.")

She had sighed at Eli's statement.

("Don't tell me otherwise.")

Oh, Goldsworthy, get off your high horse.

Of course you can. She does it… every day. Every month. Year. Hour. Second.

Oh, there goes one second; she still loves you – for no reason.

"Do you have a reason for at least one thing?"

She groans at him.

"Why do you love me?"

She pouts.

He frowns. His frown becomes more pronounced.

"Because you're the only idiot that would hang out with me."

His eyebrow twitches.

"You do have a reason."

"No. I don't. It just happens to be that we're together, that's all."

He sighs at her stubbornness.

("Don't you get tired of leaving everyone confused with what you say?")

She shrugged at this.

("No. It's fun. It keeps people wanting for more.")

"I want a better answer than that."

"There's no reason to love someone as charming and funny and sweet as –"

Bingo. He got her. She blushed. He smirked.

Are you satisfied now, Goldsworthy?

"Yes. I'm very satisfied now."

"Of course."

But he still knows that she won't ever change. Because there's no reason to fall in love with each other.

They do it every day.

Oh.

They did it again – fell in love, with no reason.
