A Fanfic taking place in the shinobi world. ONESHOT.

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, sadly. I don't own the characters either and that stinks.

The gentle wind rushed over the near-empty plain. The only object in its humble way was a small, slender, pale, girl. The girl usual stood only to the shoulder of the shortest of men in Konoha, but she had earned their respect. She was the one of the best field medics that Konoha had to offer. One of the best people to have at your side, many would say as they returned from a mission without as much as a scratch.

But that wouldn't be the case now.

Hana wasn't standing up to her usual short hight. She now layed on her side heaving, a thick, red liquid making its way out of her closed lips. Death was right around the corner. The exact fate she had saved so many people from, she was now going to face herself. The dying girl scorned her self for failing to see this coming. She had the nose, she had the headset. Why hadn't she noticed the ambushing shinobi?

It was just a simple mission, a simple assignment to take out a group of bandits that were terrorizing the travelers. But they didn't know that an ambush was made in the making. A simple battlecry was the only warning that they received before a barrage of chakra-infused water crashed upon their bodies. Then the ambushers jumped out and the red and black uniforms they wore stood out in the surrounding woodlands. After Hiashi fell, it was clear that they could no longer defend against the surprise attack. Hana had turned and ran back towards Konoha to inform the fifth of the attack.

And she had made it so far, almost to the border, but a slip of her foot sent her tumbling down towards the hard, cruel earth. She had a lead over her pursuers, but it wasn't enough to cover her mistake. It didn't take much effort to silence her.

The pain going through her ribs was now like a knife, ripping through her aready dying soul. And the only thing that it left in it's destructive path was the word why. Why hadn't she noticed the danger? Why had she been so oblivious? Why had she fallen? These empty words were echoing through her head and exited as tears rolling down her red checks. And it wasn't the physical pain that hurt so much.

It was the emotional pain.

She knew the true reason she couldn't warn her teammates of the ambush. It was because the ambusher was, the man of her dreams. The man that had caused her so much joy, yet now caused so much pain. The muderous S-ranked fugitive whom's name was now shuned in Konoha, He was, the ambusher was........
