One year had passed, one year since the tragic accident that had killed every one of his friends. Everyone except him, and he missed them all. Even more each day that passed.

He knew he shouldn't have let them go. But they went and now all he wanted, no, needed was to see them again. If he could just go back and stop them from leaving.

He remembered the cold hospital. He remembered holding tightly to his love's hand as he heard the tragic last words fall from his lips, "Kid… please be strong. I'm sorry but we say goodbye today."

One day he'd fall as well. One day he'd join his friends. But for now, he was trapped with the burning in his heart. The burning of remembered friends and lost love.

Your beautiful crimson eyes.

He remembered his love telling him to be strong, but how could he be? "How can I be strong when you're gone?"

He closed his golden eyes and remembered the tears that he refused to let fall that day and with hardly any struggle, they came, rushing down his face and wracking his body with sobs.

Your crimson eyes

Death the Kid lay in his bed, staring up at the symmetrical ceiling dreading the day to come.

It'd been a year. One year since he last saw the light in Soul's eyes.

And every night, he missed it more.
