just a short and sweet...uh..."drabble"(i think its called) about Neville. I love Neville, he's deffinately in my top 5 fav characters, and i just randomly felt like writing about him..

Neville sat by himself in the green house. He had Herbology first thing in the morning, and, like many other days, he was about an hour early to class.

This time alone was so peaceful, it was worth getting up early. The others in his dorm room thought he was crazy, but they didn't understand; they weren't as pasionate about any of their classes, as Neville was about Herbology; The way he didn't really understand their obsession with quidditch.

Plants fascinated him, how many of them had powers that even wizards did not, how some could live and grow without the help of any other being, how they could live peacefully amongst themselves without thought, how none of them fought to hold the highest title. Humans certainly weren't like that. If all the world were plants, there would be no violence or fear. And even when a plant did die, it wouldn't care, it wouldn't have ever known it was alive. Plants didn't have emotion.

Sometimes, he wished he didn't have emotion either. He even wished he didn't have thought, at times.

Then he wouldn't have to think about any of the bad things. The things that haunted his dreams. The things that he always stopped himself from thinking about, but somehow kept seeping into his mind.

None of this stuff mattered right now, though. The only things that existed were himself, and the plants that needed watering at the moment.

Soon he realized that he had been in there for a while, and class would be starting in about 15 minutes.

While he was watering the last of the plants, a girl walked into the green room.

She didn't seem to notice Neville at first, but when she saw him, she seemed a bit startled.

"Oh. Hi." she said.

Neville nodded in her direction, acknowledging her presence. He was slightly annoyed that he would not be able to spend the last minutes, before class started, alone, but shrugged it off and tried to ignore her.

She wandered over toward the table with the Mandrakes, that the second years were working on, and gazed out at the quivering leaves of them, that were above the soil.

"Don't tell anyone this," she said, "but I always thought the Mandrakes were somewhat adorable. I don't even think their cries are disgusting, it really just adds to the power that they have. You know what I mean?" She glanced at Neville, who appeared to not be listening, "What am I saying? Of course you don't know what I mean. It's probably completely mad to think Mandrakes are anything but awful . . ."

Neville, however, was listening, and suddenly saw this girl in a new light. When he looked directly at her, he recognized her as Hannah Abbott, a Hufflepuff in his year.

He smiled at her, "No," he said, "I know exactly what you mean."

you dont see Neville and Hannah interact in the books, and i was actually somewhat surprised about them ending up together. hope you liked, and please review!
