Disclaiming the World

Summary: Harry ponders life, love, and the universe in general…

Today's world:
a world within a universe of infinite possibilities, each one more terrible than the last. A world of right and wrong, black and white, good and evil… and worse. A world where children grow up without parents and adults sometimes can't have the children they want. A world of cruelty where love is rare if not impossible- how long have I searched for the sole purpose of finding someone to love, who would love me in return? How long?
Ginny was always different- she loved me first because of what I'd done: defeating the Dark Lord before I could speak doesn't count for anything of my character, of my personality… but then, she always loved me afterwards, for different reasons even, after I got to know her better. Now she's gone, too. I'll kill Voldemort. He should never have trod that dangerous ground.
Yes, today is a treacherous time- one in which bloodthirsty, power-hungry beings often fare better than good and honest men. 'Tis a dark place, this world we live in. The world has turned its back on me- I won't accept this anymore. So be it.
I disclaim the world.
