A/N: Yay my first fanfic!

Kira sat on her bed as she flipped through channels of the old television set that she and her husband received from one of their friends, looking for something to watch. She stopped abruptly when she saw a familiar face on the screen. At once she recognized the boy as Masao Kirishima. "…Convicted of killing at least five people in the last month, Kirishima is a threat to the public. We advise everyone to…"

Kira gasped. "Rei! Rei! Come here!" Rei Kashino walked into their bedroom.

"What is it, Kira?" Rei asked, slightly alarmed by the urgency in her voice.

"Look," Kira said, pointing to the TV without taking her eyes off it. The pair watched in shock as the news report revealed that the person that had once tried to kill both Kira and Rei had escaped from the psychotherapy center and was now running loose among the streets and taking the lives of innocent people.

"Oh my God," Rei finally said after the news report was over. "Even though officer Okuda said he wouldn't try coming after me, I don't think he said anything about you, and you're the only one I care about. Anyway, I'm not convinced he wouldn't try coming after me. I don't trust a criminals mind." Speaking more to himself than Kira, he muttered

"I should've killed Masao when I had the chance."

"Don't say that!" Kira exclaimed. "If you did kill him then you would be in jail, and-"

"If I did kill him he wouldn't be running around the streets killing people for fun," Rei said.

"And I would be lonely if you killed him," Kira continued as if she hadn't heard him, and a tear ran down her cheek.

Rei sighed. "I'm just worried for you," said Rei, trying to comfort her.

Then, Kira replied, "I'm not scared. I have you,"

Rei smiled and hugged Kira. With his arms still around Kira, Rei promised her and himself, "I'll always protect you," then, getting up Rei sighed, "I gotta get to the track,"

"Be careful," said Kira.

Rei laughed. "Aren't I always?"

"Not as much as I want you to be," Rei took his helmet and walked towards the door.

"I'll see you later," he told her.

"Bye!" Kira replied, though her worry over Masao hadn't lessened a bit.
