"Ponch, can you stand still for just one second?" Jon asked.
"Sorry, partner. I've never been good at staying perfectly still for a long period of time," Ponch replied. Jon had been learning how to draw portraits of people. His girlfriend was teaching him. He decided he wanted his first portrait drawing to be of Ponch. Ponch was having a hard time standing perfectly still though.
"I'm almost done, Ponch just give me five more minutes," Jon said. Ponch rolled his eyes. 'That's what he said five minutes ago,' he thought.
"Ponch, I know what you're thinking, and I'm sorry. I try to draw fast, but you can't rush perfection," Jon said.
"Yeah, I know you said that five minutes ago too," Jon laughed,
"Ponch, you're funny," he said quietly. Then Getraer came into the room.
"Still drawing? Poncherello looks like he can't wait to get out of here," Getraer said.
"No, Poncherello just wants to sit down. His feet are killing him. But Mr. Artist over there is taking forever to finish," Ponch said. Jon just kept working.
"Well, I'm almost done," Jon said. A few seconds later Jon was super happy. "I'm done," he announced. Ponch's eyes got wide.
"Really?" He asked excitedly.
"Yep," Jon replied, then pulled up a chair.
"Sit here Ponch, I have to do one of you sitting down too."
"You're kidding right?" Ponch asked as he sat down.
"Nope, Sashenka said she wanted two portraits of the person that I did. She said that I need to show her I can do one of them standing up, and one sitting down," Jon said.
"Jon, I don't think that is such a good idea. I don't think I could stay still for three more hours," Ponch said.
"It didn't take three hours for the first one. It took four," Jon said.
"Well, that's worse."
"Relax, Ponch. this time you'll be sitting down," Jon pointed out.
"Oh, I guess it won't be as bad."
"You know, you could go somewhere else. If you want better scenery. You didn't even have to work today," Getraer said.
"Yeah, but Jon wanted to do it here, to make it seem more real that I was CHP. Wait, Jon we can do it at my place. You can draw me, laying in bed sleeping," Ponch said. Jon ignored Ponch, and talked to Getraer.
"You're right, Sarge, come on Ponch. I need you to sit on your motorcycle," Jon said.
"You mean you want me to walk out to my motorcycle?" Ponch asked.
"Yeah, come on," Jon said leaving.
"Do I have to go?" Ponch asked.
"Go on, Frank, Jon really enjoys this. And after all the things he's done for you…."
"Ok, I'll go," Ponch said before Getraer could finish.
Meanwhile…
The next Jon came into the CHP.
"How do the pictures look?" Ponch asked. He still hadn't seen them. Jon told him he wasn't gonna show them to anyone until Sashenka had seen them.
"They look great, you wanna see 'em?" Jon asked.
"Yes," Ponch replied excitedly. Jon took Ponch to the locker room, and showed him the pictures.
"Wow, they look amazing Jon! I look terrific!" Ponch exclaimed.
"Thanks," Jon said.
"What'd Sashenka think?" Ponch asked.
"She thought I did great. She said you look adorable," Jon said.
"That doesn't upset you right?" Ponch asked.
"Of course not, she still loves me," Jon replied. Ponch smiled. "Come on, I have to go show these to Bear and Grossie," Jon said. Ponch followed Jon.
Meanwhile…..
"These look great Jon. Can you draw me next?" Bear asked.
"If you don't mind staying still for a long time," Jon said smiling at Ponch. Then they both started to laugh.
