You're standing alone with a gun, facing death head on.

Civilians are behind you. Innocents you'd give your life to protect.

You know in a matter of seconds it's going to end with one of you on the pavement bleeding. You know the possibility of it being you is strong. He's got a bigger gun, more bullets, a better view of you then you have of him.

You know this could be the end for you.

You're hands are still as they grip the gun, but your heart speeds up, sweat rolls down your back.

The civilians are running, but you know if you move you're forfeiting their lives.

This is your job this is who you are. So you stand steadfast.

Then suddenly you're not alone anymore. Suddenly yours isn't the only steady gun.

"Hey there partner." Colby mutters lightly, his eye's locked on the suspect.

You grin. You're heart rate grows steady and the sweat cools against your body.

"Nice timing," you throw back gratefully.

He chuckles and it makes you feel light. "Wasn't gonna leave you hanging."

"I appreciate it." You spare him a sideways glance.

The suspect fires a shot that misses by inches and just like that you're back in the game of life and death.

You're still standing in front of innocents, still willing to die for them.

But this time you're not alone.
