Note from the Author: It's amazing how almost everything I write comes to me in the middle of the night. Though this particular poem has 'em all beat. I wrote this at 2:00 AM. I was woken up, couldn't go back to sleep, so I wrote a Higurashi poem. Some people might say that's not the most efficient way to try to go back to sleep but right afterwards I was out like a light. So take that, some people!

Now...it's a poem. As I've said before (in other notes for poems) I don't have much experience with it, but sometimes one will just sort of hit me. I'm not very good at them, but I think that just needs I need more practice. Well, I hope you can enjoy it. There's a different part for each Hinamizawa girl. Sorry Keiichi...

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Higurashi no Naku Koro ni or any of the characters, no matter how much I may want to.

Play on, oh sweet melody
Play your song of joy
Your notes calm my screaming mind
Taking me away from dreams

Play on, oh bitter melody
Play your song of pain
The world grows darker with every beat
How cruel this tune can be

Play on, oh eternal melody
Play your song of fate
Sing my heart to sleep forevermore
So I may feel again

Play on, oh lifeless melody
Play your song of death
Your music takes and takes from me
But I see nothing back

Play on, oh sweet melody
Play this song once more
You will play
Beat
Sing
And I shall dance
As you play on
For eternity
To your capturing melody
