Your Eyes

Your eyes, as we said our goodbyes
Can't get them out of my mind and I find I can't hide
From your eyes, the ones that took me by surprise
The night you came into my life
Where there's moonlight I see your eyes

How'd I let you slip away
When I'm longing so to hold you?
Now I'd die for one more day
'Cause there's something I should have told you
Yes, there's something I should have told you...

"Excuse, me are you Mr. Gold?"

He quickly tucked away the flask, hoping whoever walked through the door didn't see the thing.

"Yes, I am, but I'm afraid the shop's closed..."

As he turned, he thought his mind was playing tricks on him. Did he drink too much? Was it really...

Brown locks, the familiar shape of her head, those piercing eyes... He should have recognized it all when she first spoke. He thought... she died.

"I was, uh... I was told to find you and tell you that Regina locked me up. Does that mean anything to you?"

Was this all an illusion? A mirage he wanted to see. As she drew closer to him, the very image of her was crystal clear. Just to make sure he wasn't seeing things, he reached out to touch her shoulder... She was real.

"You're real... You're alive." He quivered, trying his utmost not to crumble.

"She did this to you?"

"I was told you'd protect me."

His insides just about swelled, feeling his eyes grow moist. Of course he'd protect her, there was no question. He let her go once, he wasn't going to watch her go again. The mistake he made was giving up on the one person who gave him everything, and he treated it like garbage.

"Oh, yes...! Yes, I'll protect you...!"

He held her in an embrace. The so called 'Queen' said she died, saying the lady fell off the tower to her untimely death. All he gave her were threats, shouts and a boot out the door. But they were in another world now, and she was alive in his arms.

There were so many things left unsaid. He thought he could never say them. Now that she was here, he could now say them. So he could say that he loved her. He wasn't going to waste this second chance.

So many people came and went in his life, they never truly understood him. Everyone else left. Belle stayed.

"I'm-I'm sorry, do I... do I know you?"

He was never going to let her go.

"No... but you will."

When I looked into your eyes
Why does distance make us wise?
You were the song all along
And before the song dies

I should tell you, I should tell you
I have always loved you...
You can see it in my eyes
