Artemis walked into her apartment. Boxes were piled up in corners, and photo frames that had once been dotted across the living room wall were packed up. Except one. She walked over to it, and looked at it, before letting out a deep sigh. A picture of her and Wally, shortly after they had moved into the very apartment she was now leaving.

She smiled slightly as she remembered the situation surrounding it. Boxes waiting to be unpacked, bits of furniture needing unstacking in the background and a dog bed in the bottom left hand corner. Artemis held a box, as if she was half way between taking it to another room, and Wally had sprung a camera on her and captured the moment. Half of his face was missing in the photograph, as he tried to include himself.

Artemis placed her hands gently around the photo frame and lifted it off the wall. She brought it to her chest and hugged it. Tears fell silently down her face, as she wished that hugging the photograph would bring him back.

"I still cry at night, you know." She said, looking at the picture once again. "Sometimes I think you'll walk in the door."

She tried to wipe away the tears from her eyes, but more quickly took their place. "Your parents…" She choked slightly. "spend a lot of time with me. Talk to me, tell me memories. It helps, sometimes."

She sniffed back her sadness and smiled weakly at the photograph. "Who would've known you were planning to propose." She said, remembering the emerald ring she found in his sock drawer. "I guess you really did want to leave the life behind…"

"I knew." A female voice said behind her.

Artemis spun around to find M'gann standing at the door. She wiped her eyes once again and swallowed forcefully. "You did?"

"It comes with being a telepath." She said, a sad smile on her face.

Artemis let out a heartless laugh. "It would've been something cheesy."

"He planned it for the Watchtower, on New Years."

Artemis closed her eyes as she sank to the ground. "Where we had our first kiss."

M'gann nodded and walked over to her friend. "You would've made a beautiful bride."

Artemis looked up at her. She sniffed. "I miss him, M'gann."

M'gann leant down and cupped Artemis's tear stained face in her hands. "I can't even imagine how you feel. But coming to live with me for a while will help." She said, gently.

Artemis placed her hands over M'gann's and nodded. She stood up, leaving the photo on the ground and looked around the living room again. "I'd… I'd like a moment to myself, if that's okay." She whispered.

M'gann nodded and walked back outside to the car that would take them to Artemis's new home.

"God, Wally. You left at the worst time." She chuckled. "Typical Wally."

She reached out, touching the walls. "I'll miss you. I'll miss us. But I will always love you."

Turning around, she walked out of the apartment. She reached for the door handle, and taking one last look inside, closed the door.
