Future Plans

The walk home was long enough, he could've taken a cab but he needed to think. As he stepped further away from the hospital his heart broke a little more. Were they over? No they couldn't be, right? The hotel was right there he stepped through the lobby and into his cod impersonal room. Definitely not his home, not for long.

There was a knock on his door. He reluctantly opened the door hoping it was room service. It wasn't, it was something so much better,

"A yard the size of Montana" Lexie said

"What?" mark replied confused

"We'll need a yard the size of Montana for the dogs and cookouts and kids. Yeah the kids will need somewhere to play."

As Lexie said those words she walked in and sat herself on the couch and started bawling. Mark was very very confused and possibly drunk he thought. Did she mention kids? Well he mentioned marriage so that wasn't to bad. As he was pondering what to do he heard her say two very small whimpering words.

"They're dead"

"What?" yelled Mark "O'Malley and Stevens?"

"George died after his surgery and Izzie is on life support... They had plans mark. Izzie was going to be the best general surgeon and George was going off to war and I... My plans and your plans..." Before she could continue any further mark wrapped his arms around Lexie and let her cry.

"I don't want to wait 10 years to live with you or marry you, if that's what you want, to marry me?"

"Lex you are honestly the most stupidest person ever. Of course, you that's all I want"

"Ok" Lexie managed to sniffle out.

"So a yard the size of Montana?"

"Yes, We need that room now"

"Really? Why?"

"Well if we're going to get married in the next three years i would probably want kids soon after that so yeah big yard, and we need a dog."

"How many kids?"

"Like eight..."

"What?!"

"Just kidding like two or three, maybe four."

Mark and Lexie stayed on the couch and reminisced on the lives of their friends and made future plans of their own. They knew their loss was great but they could survive anything. A 3% survival chance had turned into 100%. They were Mark and Lexie and nothing could mess that up.
