Mal stood there, glaring down at the electronic kettle that was sitting on the bench infront of him.
"Work, dammit!" Mal hissed through his teeth, whacking the kettle with his hand. The kettle didn't move, nor did it heat the water inside it.
Mal continued hitting the kettle continuously, ignoring the amused look he was receiving from Zoe. Zoe sat at the table, watching Mal as though this was a day at the cinema.
"WORK, DAMMIT!" Mal shouted, whacking the kettle with a wooden spoon.
At that precise moment, Inara graced the galley with her presence, blinking at Mal, of whom continued attacking the kettle.
Inara looked at Zoe for an explination and Zoe just looked down, trying not to burst out laughing at her captain.
A broken wooden spoon head whizzed past Mal's ear and he let out a frustrated yell.
Inara caught the spoon head in between two fingers with astonishing grace, walking around the counter and next to Mal, of whom was continuing to attack the kettle with the remainder of the spoon.
"Is there a problem, Mal?" Inara asked lightly, standing beside Mal, but at a safe distance away from the killer-spoon-weilding man.
Mal looked over at her.
"THIS DAMN THING WON'T WORK" Mal shrieked, pointing the remainder of the spoon at the battered electronic kettle.
"Maybe you need an electrician, Mal." Inara suggested, looking at the kettle closely.
"Maybe you're right." said Mal. "KAYLEE!" he shouted, his voice echoing throughout the ship, "KAYLEE!"
"Mal! Stop it. She's sleeping." sighed Inara, straitening up.
"How else am i gonna get this--" Mal swore colourfully in Chinese "-- to work, then!"
"I know what the problem is, Mal." sighed Inara, placing the broken head of the spoon on the counter in front of the kettle.
"Really?" blinked Mal.
Inara nodded and pointed at a switch on the back of the kettle.
"It might help if you have it turned on."
