Francis always enjoyed Quidditch. He loved watching every match his team played. He loved how fast paced the game was and how well the players moved around on their brooms. Even though he was a Slytherin, he particularly enjoyed watching the Gryffindor games. Sure, they were a strong team and won the Quidditch Championship almost every year, but that wasn't why. The reason was a certain boy, a chaser, who had slowly stolen is heart.
Arthur Kirkland had been his friend since the first day they met on the train. Since then, they've gone through many fights and adventures together, Arthur being the more adventurous one. So here he was, cheering his old friend on, while Gryffindor played against Ravenclaw. He watched in awe as the seeker flew around the pitch as fast as he could, chasing after what he assumed was the snitch.
Minutes went by as the game grew more intense. The score was 60-40 to Gryffindor but the snitch was nowhere to be found. The Gryffindor seeker continued speeding around the stadium, until he suddenly took a dive. After holding their breath for a few, very long seconds, the fans broke out into cheers, as the seeker flew back up, snitch in his hand and I huge smile on his face."GRYFFINDOR WINS" was heard across the whole pitch.
Francis happily ran down the stairs to greet Arthur. Maybe he could confess his feelings for Arthur tonight, during the celebrations! Feeling extra giddy, he skipped over to where the team was celebrating. He spotted Arthur in the center, laughing and being hugged by his teammates. He looked so irresistible when he smiled.
The Slytherin boy began to make his way towards Arthur, when suddenly he froze in his spot. A tall, young boy with golden blonde hair had made his way to Arthur. He tapped him on the shoulder, and just as he turned around, the boy kissed him. Francis felt his heart sink. Of course this would happen just as he gained more confidence. Waving at a few of the teammates that saw him, he turned around and began to run back to his dormitory. What else should he have expected? Arthur obviously wouldn't feel the same way. Francis was just a friend and that would never change.
