Hi all! This is my first fanfic, so… be nice I guess?

Disclaimer: The books and all the characters belong to the wonderful Cassandra Clare (even Jace *sobs*)

Clary sighed as she placed her worn out book on her bed, rolling over, so she was laying on her back. She was reading City Of Glass for what seemed like the 30th time. If Clary could be described in one word, it would be "obsessed." She had posters of the actors from Shadowhunters all over her room, drawings of the characters hung up everywhere, and every single book in the multiple series. She could probably quote the book word for word by memory if she needed to. Clary was a superfan, a title she took in pride.

"Clary! Breakfast!" Jocelyn called from downstairs, yanking Clary away from her fictional heaven.

"Coming mom!" She called back, sticking her bookmark into the book to save her page. Clary grabbed her backpack from the spot she had put it in yesterday and ran downstairs. She was greeted with the smell of coffee and pancakes, which Jocelyn placed in front of her.

"How did you sleep, Clary? Ready for your first day of senior year?" She asked, grabbing Clary a fork and knife.

"I'm excited," Clary responded. "A little nervous, but I'm ready to leave this town." Jocelyn gave her a small smile, but her sadness was evident through her eyes. She understood Clary though because they had lived in Redding, Connecticut since Clary was a baby. For a family of three, it seemed like it would be a good idea when they first moved there, but 18 years later Clary got quite cramped. There's only so much one can do in a small town before they go crazy. Considering Clary had only been out of the country once, she was anticipating to study abroad somewhere magical, somewhere that wasn't just trees. "Maybe London," she thought as she finished her pancakes and reached for her backpack.

"Bye Clary!" Jocelyn and Luke said, waving as she walked out the door to her car.

Clary sat in shotgun as she fixed her slight eyeliner, making sure it wasn't smudged. She admired her almond-shaped eyes with her breathtaking green irises, her red curly hair for once looking tamed and neat. Her skinny body was in a tight-fitting grey tank top and deep blue short shorts, an outfit appropriate for the beginning of September. Clary wished she had the curves to pull off her outfit, even though to others she looked beautiful. She shifted from the passenger side to the driver's side, pulling her black Jeep out of their driveway and speeding off to meet Simon.

"Si! Hurry up you lazy ass!" Clary called, pressing on the horn which let out a low shrill. Simon, still struggling to get his shoes on, ran out of his house.

"Hey Fray, honk that a little louder, why don't cha," He said, sarcastically. Clary, giving him an innocent smile, pressed it once more before unlocking the doors to let Simon into her car.

"My hand slipped," she said, already pulling out of his driveway. Simon turned up the radio, saying he loved that song. She stole a quick glance over at him before focusing on the empty road ahead of her, thinking back to when she first saw Simon. He was new to the first grade, shyly holding on to the teacher's hand as she announced they would be welcoming another student and that everyone should be friendly to him. Clary walked up to him and asked him if he wanted to play blocks with her, and they've been best friends ever since.

"We're here," Simon said as Clary backed into her normal spot. "Think about it this way: This is our last year till we can leave this tiny town and travel the world."

"I can't wait," Clary said, grabbing her bag and slamming the car door.

Thanks so much for reading! I don't really care for reviews, but I've heard they "feel good"? Yeah, I don't know either. Anyway, I'll try and update as soon as possible and I hope you have an amazing week! (And for you Riverdale fans out there, new episode today!)
