What If..
Sometimes in the middle of the night,
I wonder how you are,
I dream up 'what if's,
Mostly I wish you weren't so far.
What if you were still here,
What if you'd never left?
What if it were you here now,
With my back against your chest?
What if you still love me,
The way I still love you?
What if you came back,
Then what would I do?
What if I'd waited for you,
Despite all the pain.
With all this wondereing, I wonder,
Have I anything to gain?
I wish you were here,
Forever and now,
Because living without you is hard,
I'm still learning how.
It was hard for me to breathe,
He saved me from myself.
Yet even as he holds me,
I wish he were someone else.
Is it wrong to wonder and dream,
To wish he were you?
And I wonder what if,
You still loved me too..
