A/N: Hey everyone, I'm back with another semi-vague NaruSaku drabble!! This one was a spur-of-the-moment oneshot that I typed in twenty minutes, but I'm rather happy with it. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Must I repeat myself every time? I do not own that which I type about, except for the plots. They are mine.
Years later, she sits atop her village's gates waiting for his return. The sun is setting to her right, and she takes the peaceful moment to let her mind wander. As usual, the subject is him and just how much time has changed him in mind and body.
For a moment her mind follows a different tangent, thinking of her other and how different the two became. Where one flourished under the faith of his village and friends, the other was driven to insanity by the very power that led to his betrayal. Where one strived for nothing but power, resorting to cursed seals to gain it, the other gained even more through only his own strength and will. The thought left an amused smirk on her lips as she turned her eyes back to the path stretching through the forest.
To her delight it was only minutes later that a head of bright blonde hair appeared through the trees, stopping to wave at her enthusiastically before dashing forward. She returned the wave with a grin like the one she knew he was wearing, turning her head for a moment to watch the sun slip under the horizon in a splash of orange, pink, yellow, and purple. The darkness that engulfs everything quickly makes her grin fade, remembering the one those colors represented.
She turns her eyes back to him as he nears her, and the smile returns as she ponders the irony of it all. She wonders why only one girl (a very shy one, yes, but still a girl) noticed this boy's beauty, and she regrets the thousand and one times she rejected him during their childhood. Most of all, she wonders how he can still love her after how cruel she was, and why he didn't just up and leave long ago when he was so cruelly rejected by his home.
As he finally reaches her with the bright grin she predicted still on his face and sweeps her into a bear hug, she asks herself why it took her so damn long to see what was right in front of her face all along. Yes, she thinks, Life is just one big irony.
Then his lips are on hers, and thoughts become completely irrelevant as she is swept up in a feeling she can't believe she passed by for so long.
A/N: Hooray! All done!! Hope you all enjoyed. Actually…Review and let me know if you enjoyed this!
