A Traitor is Never Forgiven by Ladyallielongbottom7
Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters, I just like to play with them. They all belong to Jo Rowling and I have no intent to try to pass them off as my own. I don't think anyone would believe me if I did
As Peter Pettigrew felt his own, cold, silver hand close around his throat he welcomed death. Welcomed it with open arms. He was finally happy, he would be reunited with the only people who had ever given a damn about him. During his years at Hogwarts he had flocked toward the Marauders out of admiration and respect. And, although at the age of eleven Peter was a portly little boy whose hands were always sticky and whose robes never quite fit right, the Marauders came to see him as one of them. He had finally found true friends, and not rejection as he had feared. It was a whole different story with the Dark Lord and his followers. Wormtail had gravitated towards Lord Voldemort out of fear. Fear of being on what he was sure would be the losing side of a growing war. As a Death Eater, Wormtail was accepted, barely. As a Marauder Peter had been welcomed. Wormtail came to find that he had no respect for the man who called himself the Dark Lord. Yes, he was a dangerous and powerful wizard, but had no knowledge about the true magic that was life and love.
Peter Pettigrew betrayed his friends out of fear. Fear seamed to be the only thing controlling his life. That fateful evening, after living twelve years as a rat out of fear, when Peter's true identity was revealed he should've feared Sirius. Sirius had always been the least welcoming to Peter. James had been too chivalrous to be cruel to him, and Remus, Remus was truly kind. That night it was not Sirius Peter feared, but Remus. Remus whose life he had ruined more than Sirius's. Sirius was happy to go to Azkaban, for life there would be better than the one awaiting him outside, without his best friend to be there. It was Remus who was left friendless and alone in a precarious position as a werewolf. He was left without anyone he trusted with his secret, and therefore left alone. As James's boy saved his life, Peter was once again manipulated by fear. He knew he deserved death. Knew that he had committed treacherous crimes, but, like his master, Wormtail feared death. So, once again manipulated, he escaped.
Peter Pettigrew freed himself in the cellar of Malfoy Manor. He defied fear, the power that had manipulated his existence. In doing so, he expected to be welcomed by his friends. But betrayal is never forgiven and as he crossed into another realm, Peter realized that he had not defeated fate and fear. He had succumbed to it yet again.
A/N: What do you think? I really like this one. I didn't quite mean to make Pettigrew seem so innocent because he's not. I just wanted to play with the idea of remorse and it not always being enough.
please review! I really want to hear what you think because I'm new at this
