A cold gust of wind blew as he shadowed his target through the streets of Konoha. A waning moon hung high in the sky above giving off just the right amount of light not to lose sight of the darkened figure. He watched in silence, they seemed to be in no hurry, slow pace, head hung.

His chest tightened as he saw a stream of tears glisten against her flushed cheeks. Wanting nothing more then to rid her of her pain, but he held back. Just watching from a distance was probably for the best right now. So, with a heavy heart he stayed close but just far enough away.

When she reached her destination he almost couldn't take seeing her in such pain. A small sob escaped her trembling lips as she fell to her knees in front of the polished stone. She wrapped her arms tight around herself; still she was unable to stop trembling.

With a shaky hand she reached out and gently traced the carved lines. "Why?" Her voice almost a whisper as she hung her head. He gave in now; he couldn't let her be alone at a time like this. Not when she needed him so badly.

With much effort he walked slowly and every step closer he could see more tears and pain reflecting in her eyes. Her trembling voice shattered his heart. "Why did you have to leave me?"

He fell to his knees behind her and reached out. But she couldn't feel him, couldn't see him. He whispered. "I didn't leave you. I'm right here." But his words went unheard. He closed his eyes wishing he could end this pain he caused, but he knew there was nothing he could do anymore.

All he could do was watch as the woman he loved with all his heart, break down. Cry for him, ache for him. He wanted so badly to wipe her tears away and promise her everything was going to be okay.

She laid her palm flat against the stone. "I don't even remember the last time I told you I love you." She closed her eyes tightly. "I never even said good-bye."

"Sakura….." He reached out again hoping, wishing he could hold her one last time.

She withdrew her hand and leaned back. A small smile crossed her tear stained face. "I hope you can hear me right now Kakashi. Because I want you to know that I will always love you."
