Author's Note: Yes, I know. It's extremely short. This isn't exactly my best work, but I'm still happy with it. And yes, this is pretty reminiscent of the scene in the movie before the battle. Just excuse that. Please read and review.

I Believe You Can

I took short, tired steps as I made my way down the hallway to my room. The festivities were over, and we were now starting our new lives as kings and queens of Narnia in our new home. Passing by Peter's bedroom, I took a quick glance through the open door. Peter was outside on the balcony, hunched over the railing. I went up to Peter through the double doors across the room

"Thinking hard?" I asked, noticing the concentration in his eyes.

Peter shook his head. "I…I can't do this."

"Do what?" I hunched over the railing as well, taking in the extraordinary view of the sea before turning back to him.

"I can't be king. I don't know how. I just…can't do this."

"That's what you said when you thought you couldn't lead an entire army…but you did."

"Edmund, that was just an army. Now I have to lead an entire country."

"And you will be great at it, just as you were with the battle. You're magnificent, remember?" I gave a limp smile, which wasn't returned.

"That battle is no example. We would have lost had Aslan not come to my rescue when the White Witch was just about to kill me."

I gripped his shoulder, which I could tell was burdened by so many responsibilities. He had always been the one to hold everything together. First it was the family and now, it was a country. Well, I guess it's my job to hold Peter together.

"Peter, don't think about that. You're ready. Aslan believes you can; everyone believes you can. You're the only one who doesn't believe it." Peter let out a deep sigh. "I believe you can." He looked up for the first time. "You know, Peter, you're not doing this alone."
