The story goes like this. She is single. She just broke up with her boyfriend. She is leaving.
Her college life has been always spent for books, yup. Just like a normal student who strives to earn a four-year degree, all she ever did was study at school and at home, on the way home and on the way to school.. The program she was enrolled to is Medical Laboratory Sciences; students say the course is not that easy and not a piece of cake. This program has given herthe biggest burdens in herlife: sleepless nights, less social life, less time for family. Despite all these, one thing she is always proud to say is that she found the best romantic relationship she always dreamt of having.
Her boyfriend (and now an ex-boyfriend) was Natsume Hyuuga and is a classmate of hers in all subjects. He always aces the exams, may be it practical or written. Yup. Usually people like him are called heartthrobs or princes of the college or plainly "Everyone's-crush-but-I-chose-to-be-cool-about-it guy." The great thing about the first day they met was because it happened in the library AND she was looking for references for my manuals. And by that, she has proven that nerds are not all weird; they can be amazingly hot as hell, like this ex-lover of hers.
"Polka." Natsume called her this because it's the most usual pattern of undergarments her girlfriend wears. "Yeah?" Mikan answers. "I've been thinking and planning basically, if we can actually have a dinner, you know, with our parents tonight," Natsume suggested. Mikan's eyes widened. Without second thoughts she frankly confronted him, "Natsume, I've got something to tell you. I know there's no easy way to tell you this, coz I've been thinking of how to make this sound lighter than it should be but I realized that it'll hurt the same. The truth is I have to leave for the US. My dad's application for our citizenship was approved last week. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I think we shouldn't see each other any longer." "Oh. Okay… If that's what you want," Natsume replied with his tears forming in his eyes. He immediately fixed his things and left.
And yes. That's the last time they saw and talked to each other. It's been 6 long months since she left and she can still remember the exact moment, exact expression in his face, and the heartache. For every single day that passes, she never misses to check on his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. But to no avail, not even a single post about their breakup can be seen. Natsume was not affected by their relationship, she always thought.
Every day was agonizing. I think I lost the breakup.
