She ran around in tears, every door led to another room, with no possible escape. Every room was smaller than the previous. The corridors seemed to be endless. She was trapped, completely trapped... And she was scared, paranoid... Regina cried and cried as she ran around , trying to find a way out of the Hell she was living. She wanted her life back. She wanted her happiness back.
"Wake up, Regina... Wake up, this is a nightmare... A horrible, horrible nightmare..." The voice in her head sounded like her Daniel's. He was right, it was a nightmare. Nothing more...
Gasping, Regina woke up, with a strange urge to scream. She was shaking and tears were streaming down her face.
The nightmares about the mansion where she lived driving her crazy and the curse getting the best of her to the point she went insane were really scaring her. Sometimes, she even dreamt of Daniel and talked to him. But what scared her the most was that she wasn't sure whether or not her nightmares were going to become reality or what could she do to prevent that from happening.
A lot of unanswered questions were spinning around in her head and invading her dreams at night. Every night...
Of course, she had been acting completely normal when she had people around, but she had been too scared. Even paranoid. She would /have/ to ask someone, tell someone about her dreams, try to be nice and get the answers she needed.
As for how it was possible that her long gone lover appeared in those dreams and communicated, she had no clue.
'I need air,' Regina thought to herself as she rubbed her eyes. Taking a deep breathe, she stood up and got out of her bed, sliding on her shoes. Leaving the room, the Mayor walked down a corridor, looking into Henry's room. She found him asleep, so she closed the door again and left the house. A walk... that's what she needed.
She wasn't sure how long she had been walking around Storybrooke, for time was strange there, and the Mayor wasn't paying too much attention. She walked into the woods and found the tree... the tree that had taken Emma away. Immediately, memories of her Evil Queen days returned to her and she closed her eyes. Her early life, her parents, the Stable, Daniel, Snow White, her mother, Daniel's death, her pain, her anger, her desire of Revenge, the King, her murder, her promise, the curse, Snow White, the baby, the wardrobe, the baby, Emma.
All of that went through her mind in less than a minute and when Regina opened her eyes again, she fell onto her knees and broke down in tears, holding Daniel's ring close to her heart. For her, crying was a sign of weakness, but she couldn't help it. Plus, no one was there and no one would see her. She needed to let it out, to push the pain away. She had sworn to destroy everyone's happiness. She wanted her happy ending, nothing else. Why couldn't she have it?
Her mind and her heart would never understand that. All she had ever wanted was to be happy. Truly, genuinely happy.
