He knew he was going to come to Hogwarts someday. That Potter boy. The son of his, enemy the one he hated most. He was going to be a trouble maker, obnoxious, yet popular among his peers. Everyone would wonder about what he was up to with those friends he was bound to make. When he came to Hogwarts. Son of the jerk who saved his life.

The son of his old friend the girl he had loved most. He might be caring, brave, popular among his teachers. The potter boy, son of the girl who ruined his life. He might look like her. He might ignore the horrid people that surrounded him. That would include the potions professor who everyone suspected was evil but never actually said anything about their suspicions. To his face at least.

But he still had potter blood in him. He would probably assume what everyone else thought about " Dark and gloomy professor Snape." was true. And soon enough the potter boy would learn about his parents relationships with him. How he destroyed the friendship he had had with lily. How his father had tormented him when they were students.

So, he hated that potter boy before he even saw him in the great hall getting sorted into Gryffindor at the feast, before he even asked him a single questions in his class. However, the minute he did see him he knew him. Not from the gasping in the great hall when his name was called, ( He was barley paying attention, the sorting's were always so boring!) but, because he looked like his enemy, first year, with the love of his life's eyes.

When he saw the terrified glance his way after talking to some Weasley he knew the potter boy was scared. He kept his composure, he shot a glare in the boys direction. Inside he was confused. Hate or pity? James or Lily?
