It was many a bloody year ago,

In a kingdom by the sea,

That a maiden there lived whom you may know,

By the name of Annabel Zombie;

And this maiden she lived with no other thought

Than to feed and be fed by me.

She was a zombie and I was a zombie,

In this kingdom by the sea,

But we loved with a love that was more than love,

I and my Annabel Zombie,

With a love that the pump-action shotguns of humans

Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,

In this kingdom by the sea,

A blast blew out of a gun by night, killing my Annabel Zombie;

So that her mortal killers came

And bore her away from me, to shut her up in a testing lab

In this kingdom by the sea.

For the food never screams without bringing me dreams

Of the beautiful Annabel Zombie;

And the bodies still rise but I see the blank eyes

Of my darling, my darling, my life and bride,

In her testing lab there by the sea,

In her lab by the side of the sea.
