He'd never wanted something so much in his entire life. The way her slender fingers pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. The way she bit her lip whilst reading. Oh how he wanted her to bite his lip. He shook his head and glanced at his girlfriend, currently pestering her best friend. The pair of them were sat under an apple tree in the courtyard, supposedly studying. His girlfriend was blonde, and beautiful. Everybody thought so. She had an air of carelessness about her. The light would hit her hair, and she'd prance around campus with such grace. And yet, he couldn't bring himself to love her. Initially he'd been sure it was love. Until yesterday. He'd felt a jolt of...something, for another girl. At first he'd detested her but something in that poppy field had changed between them. Oh for Oz sake, he had to admit it, he was falling for his girlfriends best friend.
'You up for it Fiyero?'
He felt a sharp nudge that brought him back to earth with a bump.
'Yeah, of course'
He said, not actually listening to the conversation. His gaze shifted again, to the green girl beside the blonde. Elphaba. Glinda was so obviously trying to engage her in conversation, giving her little nudges and asking her questions to make sure she was listening. She so obviously wasn't. He watched as she closed her book in defeat and sighed, turning towards Glinda, nodding slightly. As she did, that one strand of hair fell in front of her face. Obviously frustrated with Elphabas hair, Glinda stood up and moved in front of her, trying to clip the strand back, despite Elphabas protests. Fiyero took the opportunity to glance down at his school work and write a sentence. He couldn't be seen to be gazing at the green girl. Though one would probably assume he was gazing at his girlfriend. When he looked up again, Glinda was back in her seat, chatting animatedly to Elphaba. The scowl on Elphabas face was laughable. Glinda had taken the strand of hair, plaited it and pinned it back. Whilst Fiyero found it an adorable addition, Elphaba clearly did not. She looked over his way and caught his eye. He swept his fringe across his face and put his book back in front of his face. He was becoming obvious. He shifted his eyes from his book quickly to make sure she wasn't watching him. Luckily she'd looked away. He was sure he'd read the same sentence five times over in this book. He couldn't concentrate. He couldn't stop thinking about her, the way she had touched his cheek, how he wanted to run his hand over her body, to count the different shades of green, to have her bit his lip and run her hands through his hair...
'Snap out of it!'
He thought, shaking his head. He'd need a cold shower at this rate. He glanced back to the girls, only this time it was Glinda who caught his eye. He gave her his usual wink, and she blew him a kiss. Elphaba, he saw, was defiantly gazing at her shoes, a slight pink blush creeping up her neck and across her cheeks. He had to keep reminding himself that she was leaving tomorrow. Off to Oz to meet the Wizard. He felt a knot form in the pit of his stomach. This was bad; he'd fallen for his girlfriends best friend.
