Sirius, I swear to god if you don't close the curtains and get back in bed, I will murder you," Remus whines from where he's buried underneath a mound of covers.

There's no answer and curious, he peeks out of his warm cocoon of covers to see Sirius standing in front of the window, his back to Remus.

A normal sight usually, except that Sirius is naked as the day he was born.

"Why are you up this early? Actually, why are you naked and standing in front of an open window? Siri, babe, the neighbors are going to call the cops on us again," Remus mutters, turning on his side to watch his husband.

"Sometimes it doesn't feel real, y'know? I can't believe that we're actually married and that we survived both wars," Sirius sighs, running a hand through his already unruly hair.

(Translation: I can't believe that we survived while James and Lily didn't. I don't feel real, I don't know who I am.)

Remus inches out of bed and shuffles towards Sirius, wrapping his arms around the taller man and leaning his head against his back.

"You're here with me now. We're good now, this is good. You're a good man, Sirius and I love you. We have Harry and we are okay," Remus whispers into Sirius's ear and he tightens his grip when the animagi's shoulders tremble.

(Tremble like the shoulders of a dying man. He's knows this isn't true, places his heart, his hope in Sirius's veins. With each breath he takes, Remus is steadied and the wolf in him is calmed. He knows this, but does Sirius?)

Sirius doesn't answer and Remus starts to kiss his neck, murmuring "We're okay" each time his lips touch the reason he is no devil, not anymore. The reason why he loves the stars more than the moon.

"You are my lungs, my heart, my universe," Remus murmurs softly when Sirius turns to him, head bowed.

Remus frowns and cups Sirius's wet cheeks, bringing him closer until their noses are touching.

"You make me human," he mumbles, clumsily kissing Sirius.

(He tastes like passion in broom closets and lightning. He tastes like music and feels like support and that's how Remus knows he's never going to be able to leave this man.)

Sirius lets out a shaky breath and smiles against Remus's lips, hands trailing down Remus's back to rest at his hips and bring him closer.

"You've always been human, Remy. Jus' looked in the wrong mirror sometimes," he hums, trying to blink back tears.

(Sometimes he forgets who he is, wonders if he's just tainted the Black family line. Tainted everything, everyone around him. He loses himself in his own darkness, but then the moon comes out to show him the way and he's warm again.)

"We're okay," Sirius whispers and he tightens his grip on Remus, desperately trying to believe this when he dreams of metal bars and foggy nights. The dementors took something from him when he was locked up. He thinks it was his hope.

"We're okay," Remus repeats soothingly.

Sirius believes him, today they are good. Today they are okay and he is away from Azkban, he's not a taint or criminal. Just Sirius Orion Black, a man head over heels in love with Remus Lupin.

Today they are okay and no one can tear their love apart.

Not again, not for a thousand years.

The moon and the stars can't be separated after all.
