I don't own Sherlock.
This is related to "Two Halves of the Same Coin" but not directly. It shows one of the nightmares briefly mentioned in "Two Halves of the Same Coin"
This is my note, it's what people do isn't it? Leave a note.
John was running, he hadn't listen to Sherlock. He hadn't stayed put. How could he? How did he expect him to stay put?
The building just kept getting taller and taller, he could hear Sherlock on the phone but everytime he thought he was getting closer he sounded further and further away.
Sherlock, don't. You can't.
I'm sorry John.
Finally he has on the roof, he was there watching as Sherlock turned round.
There was gunshots, John was no longer on the roof with Sherlock but back on the battlefields in Afghanistan he could hear people screaming his name, they needed his help. He couldn't see anything, but just hear the pain filled screams.
And there on the floor, Sherlock lay. On the battlefields in Afghanistan his best friend lay bleeding to death.
I've got no choice John. You'll understand.
John is back on the roof, his mind buzzing, the pain in his chest overpowering him. He tries to speak but his voice catches in his throat. He can make no sound and can't move. He watches as Sherlock then jumps.
John's heart breaks. Watching his friend die not once, but twice. His best friend.
I'm sorry John. I'm so sorry.
John is able to move as soon as Sherlock's jumped, and so he runs, he runs to the edge of the building. There, laying on the floor below him. Sherlock. Dead.
John wakes up screaming, he waits a minute, the hope that Sherlock might walk in, might come and see if he is ok. But nothing, just silence.
Sherlock will never come to check on him again.
Sherlock is dead.
I know its sad, and it might not make much sense. The idea is that John is getting the nightmares he used to get from want happened in Afghanistan, and new ones from The Fall. They are combining and making him lose Sherlock over and over.
