((So I had an idea for an OC character and he's a boy. I won't tell ya'll the rest of his details but... enjoy.

*Description: A job the crew of the Firefly accept takes them on a journey through an Alliance base, but this isn't an ordinary base because its like the academy River was sent to. What happens when they meet a boy as troubled as river was?

(Contains all characters except Book and Wash. Post Serenity: Movie)*

POV: River Tam

Problematic. We walk through a hall of endless doors looking to steal things from bad people. Daddy stops when I stop, looking at me funny.

"River what are ya doin there?" I look back at him. The River isn't even sure she knows.

"She's not sure... Something special is here." Daddy shrugs and continues, hand on his gun.

I never used to carry weapons, but they let me now. One pistol, a small Damascus axe, and my mind. I get a read again and run to a room catching Mal, Zoe, Jayne, and Simon's eye.

They follow me while I walk to a door. A strange door that makes The River shy away. I already know the code to the door.

POV: Mal Reynolds

She's a bit weird suddenly diverting from the plan, but she knows things we won't so we all follow. She walks up to a door and types in a security code like she works here.

"Little One, you are a little off you know that?"

"Yes Captain-Daddy, its a shared theory," she states quietly. We walk into a dark room and River illuminates it with yet another code on a control panel. Simon rushes in looking at the new room while Jayne and Zoe stand guard at the door.

River walks to a coffin like device with various tubing wired to it. I watch her lay down on top, Simon rushing to stop her.

"No River you don't know whats in there! You could be disrespecting a poor body." River doesn't really respond until a few minutes have passed,

"He's like me Simon... broken... a little off, " she says to her big brother while we all begin to understand.

Simon steps up to the diagnostic panel which appears to be used like one in a Core Planet hospital.

"There is... a young boy with the same amygdalal stripping..." Simon unlatches the coffin first, requiring a code from river. Then once open we all peer into it. Sure enough I see a small frail looking nude boy maybe... 16-17 years old.

"There are huge tubes connecting his blood to a system giving him food and water... two pipes are stabbed into his wrists, and two are inserted into his hips. The pipes in the hips are huge..." lost in thought Simon begins deactivating the holding device."

I watch the pipes detach from his veins, then Simon drains the water protecting him. Now theres just a small wet child. I take it upon myself to pick him up, covering him with a lab coat.

"We should leave now!" I pop off realizing we've overstayed our welcome.

POV: River

I decend upon his quiet form... he has yet to speak a word fully awake and yet dead silent.

"What is the small ones name?" I ask him. It shakes his head so I probe his mind.

"River! Don't disturb my newest patient," Simon scolds, but its no matter I know what I need and I have found it.

"His name is Caleb."
