AN: So this is a birthday present for my best friend ever: readergirl13! I did one of these for my friend Anna as well, and boy do you have different tastes in pairings, you two. This takes place during Catching Fire, before the games. But here goes... (This is permanently a one-shot. No reviews and things begging me can change that. ;) )

Soft breathing in my ear makes my eyes open. My vision is blurred, and I can only see the faint shape of Peeta hanging over me.

"Peeta?" I breathe, not really sure what's going on.

He backs up, and I can barely tell that he's ruffling his blonde, shaggy hair.

"Thank god... Katniss, I was worried about you." He looks like he's been crying. Peeta had never been ashamed about that. I remember, even before the 74th Games.

What? Why had he been worried? "Huh? I just remember-"

Before I can continue, I'm wrapped in a tight hug, Peeta shaking slightly, and honestly, I am too. But not because I was scared.

"Katniss... You were hunting. And you were attacked by a giant bear. Gale told me last night... And I stayed here, just hoping... Hoping that you weren't dead. I-I love you, Katniss." He lets out a shudder and releases me. That's when I feel it.

A searing pain slices through my leg. It feels like it's on fire. And honestly, I would rather it would just burn up and let the pain go away. It hurts so bad.

"Sit. Sit. I shouldn't have done that."

He sits down on a chair I hadn't noticed before. Peeta puts his head in his hands, refusing to look at me. "That's obviously where the bear got you." He chuckles grimly. "Gale got you out before I even heard about it."

I can tell he's frowning. Even though I can't see his face.

"I-I just don't know what I would have done if you had left me..." With one last sob, he looks back up at me, and whispers in my ear. "I love you Katniss. Please, don't ever leave me."

So, what did you guys think? Happy Birthday Olivia! And I made you brownies with nutella on them as well. :) Or, I will soon. Hopefully. They'll have RAINBOW SPRINKLES.

Remember to read and review, loves!
