Leadership
It should have been her. She was the leader. She was the boss. The leader puts themselves in harm's way first saving the others. That was what being a leader is all about you run to the fire not away from it. Putting yourself on the line. That's what Gibbs does.
Even though Gibbs was a b-word and a bit of chauvinist, Paula wanted to be a strong fearless leader like him. She rode her team hard but never smacked them. They were a good team.
She jumps onto the bomber saving the others because that's what Gibbs would do.
