A/N: Now I have three stories on the go. I just randomly thought up this one so I'm writing it down before I forget. This story is an AU. For those that don't know that means it's and alternate universe fic. The setting is in 4999 with lots of technology and youkai humans and all that fun stuff but it has a really crappy government blah, blah, blah. This is going to be a Kagome-Sesshoumaru pairing and I don't know if I'll be able to put the others in so for now that's all I can say.
Disclaimer: I will own InuYasha and co. when monkeys in pink penguin suits doing the cha-cha while they take over the world. Mind you even then I probably wouldn't own it until I became one of those monkeys. Off of that topic I own all my own characters.
Chapter 1- When will they learn?Kari landed onto the floor of the cell without a sound a Naraku threw her back in with a flaring temper; she had kicked him; again. Twelve men came down the stair with two struggling slaves in their arms they were both shackled inu youkai that were obviously pissed off into a rage.
"Put them in this cell. The girl will live." Naraku snarled. Kari's foot landed in his face and he wall flung threw the wall. The guards chuckled the girl's spunk but weren't laughing for long as the two youkai were getting more vicious. Deciding that they were going to do what they were told, they tossed both of the struggling slaves into the cell with the girl. They landed on her. Throwing her into the wall again.
Naraku appeared again and walked up to the cell, "Have fun." He smirked horribly and walked away the guards following him.
Kari hissed as the black bands that were around her waist, ankles, wrists and throat started to burn threw her skin. Why did the damn things have to be so sensitive to every order she was given? The to youkai on top of her, now that she got a look at them were of the same tribe, The Shiro Inus. She had enough of their blood in her to give her a tail, poison claws, poison fangs and some funny looking ears but those things were confined, along with her magic.
One was a male taiyoukai and the other was a female that looked ready to murder some one. They both were in a rage and on top of her. They're claws were elongated as well as their fangs. Kari was sure she'd have fun with those.
Sesshoumaru was sitting in his cell when twelve guards came down the hall. That was never good, that meant some youkai were going to the defiant section. He knew that there was only two youkai left in the normal training area. One Kagome and himself, neither of them listened to what they were told to do and they also refused to do as their lessons "taught" them.
Six of the guards marched right on by him but the last six stopped and held up some shackles. They were going to chain him, like an actual dog. The other six men came back and talked to the ones that had been approaching him, apparently Kagome was being like him. No way were they going to be treated like uncivilized beasts and there was no way that they would end up in collars.
Half an hour later and 42 dead guards they were in chains and being dragged down to the "defiant section" and the place that was rumoured to have an angel that loved to kick in Naraku's balls.
Not ones to give up they fought all the way down there and got there just in time to see Naraku kicked threw the wall by a girl that looked almost human, except for the fact that she had unnatural coloured hair for a human and power markings on her. She had the some of the strongest wards they'd ever seen on a person crackling dangerously in warning but she obviously didn't care. And she obviously realized how hostile they looked because she didn't want them in her cell.
They were civilized people down here that were sane enough to know that what was happening was wrong and unjust and this teenager obviously thought that way and got herself into a hell of a mess with the head slave trader and all the guards because they obviously weren't to keen on going any closer.
Kagome watched as the girl in the cell stood to have the guards threw her and Sesshoumaru on top of the girl's petit figure. She hissed but not for obvious reasons, Naraku thought that they were going to tear her to shreds and told her to "Have fun". It triggered the wards on the poor girl and was burning threw her skin to the extent that she was bleeding.
Kagome then decided that this girl didn't deserve to be injured any more and slowly climbed off of the pile making sue that she didn't injure anyone as she gave them some space to get it together.
Kari watched unmoving as the female got up and her eyes turned a startling lilac. The youkai backed up to give the male space and he to got off of her. She instantly got to her feet and grabbed a rock on the floor she ran to the bars and looked at the guards that were slowly walking away. Taking careful aim she whipped the rock at Naraku who was heading the group away.
Sesshoumaru watched as it hit Naraku directly on the back of his head and he stopped. He didn't look back as he said almost uncaringly, "Die." The girl only flinched as the wards sparked to life and continued to eat threw her flesh. Naraku looked back a few seconds later to see that the magic in the wards had eaten threw all the skin and was working on the bone. It severed her hands and ankles; she didn't care. "You know what? Never mind. I prefer to see you suffer."
He then walked away. The girl just broke out into a huge grin.
"That is disgusting." Kagome said looking at the girl who was still watching Naraku leave. As soon as he turned the corner she flopped down on to the ground and used her teeth to rip of the wards on her wrists. A swirl of white magic flowed from her wrists and her hands reattached and healed without a mark.
She then got to on the ones on her ankles those as well got ripped off and the missing appendage reattached. She was covered in blood and burned to what would be fatal to most around her neck and waist yet she was smiling.
Kagome watched as the girl reattached the lost ligaments. It was disgusting. The blood only stopped when the wound was covered over and her throat and waist were burned still.
Kari looked at her hands and feet they were working perfectly and her powers were already working on destroying the wards still on her. A few minutes later they fell off and Kari smiled out right as her ears tail wings, fangs and claws all appeared once again.
"YES!" Kari celebrated. That's when she finally remembered the two youkai that were in the cell with her. She turned around to see them perfectly calm and looking at her strangely.
Both of the youkai were shocked as they watched the girl transform into a tenshi. The girl they were staring at finally remembered that they were there and turned to face them.
"Oops. Hi." She looked at them trying to find something to say. "Uh…I'm Kari. The rumoured Untouchable Half- Breed Angel, I bet I look pretty pathetic to you."
"Any person who has the guts to do what you just did isn't pathetic, they're incredibly intelligent. For they just found a way to escape." Sesshoumaru commented dryly. Kagome nodded. "Just so you know I'm Sesshoumaru Taisho and this is Kagome Higurashi. We're both supposed to be sex slaves."
Kari smirked again, "Same here, but that only what we're supposed to be, ne?"
They all burst out laughing. "Actually I still can't escape, I will be imprisoned for doing so. Again. I have no where to go and I've run out of plans, that was just a thought that popped into my head at the moment." Kari looked around gravely. It was a small cell and it had wards strong enough to take away most of her powers. She was stuck in it with two youkai and Naraku was going to come back with the "necessary equipment" to re-apply the wards he would also try his luck again and if those two interfered they'd be whipped enough to stop them from moving for a few days.
"Speak of the devil and he shall appear." Naraku walked down the hallway as Kari backed into cell.
"I know you're not going to agree with what I'm about to say but go into the corners and don't interfere. Please" Kari looked at Sesshoumaru and Kagome pleading silently for them to listen.
Kagome hesitated before she nodded and Sesshoumaru gave her a look that told her he was making no promises.
Sesshoumaru would interfere if he thought things got to his disliking. This girl obviously knew how to get threw certain parts of the security if not all of it and she would be able to help him escape then he could finally be free. His father ruled the lands in Japan and he was heir. They could bring all the slaves there, and the people would no loner have to worry about being enslaved because youkai had sanctuary there. It as also almost completely populated by ex-slaves that had escaped.
Sesshoumaru looked at Kagome threw the corner of his eye and his beast stirred. It had become attached to the female. Sesshoumaru knew that Kagome would make a perfect mate and tried to act on it once. They had been friends and he had nearly raped her; an unseen forced had shaken the whole building and he had gotten control of his beast. After that Kagome, being youkai herself, allowed their friendship to last but they no longer touched each other as much in case of another episode like that.
Once they were free he decided he would take her as his mate willing or no.
Kagome was uncomfortable being in the same cell with Sesshoumaru. After past happenings, she was weary of him. She liked him enough that she would mate him but not then, she was afraid that the people in this place would kill him if they found out and she wouldn't be able to live threw that.
Kari watched the exchange carefully. These two were in love and she could tell she swore then that even if she lost all her powers in the process she'd get them together. That way she wouldn't have wasted her immortal life away and at least one good thing would come from it.
Naraku walked into the cell to see the girl in her true form and he immediately sent the guards in to subdue her. They were armed with whips that were cured in a substance called darkness; it was dangerous to the girl and caused her pain.
Kari watched as the guards came poring in and she didn't even bother fight, she put shields around Sesshoumaru and Kagome then she released a wave of purifying energy. Killing all the guards in the room. Naraku watched in awe as she released another wave of power towards him. Naraku released an even larger wave of miasma but it was purified easily. As soon as it clean he rushed her and threw her to the ground, Out of practise and weak from having no food, as Naraku seemed to think she was to fat. She was easily overcome by his show of force. Naraku flipped her face up,
"You bitch." He hissed and roughly kissed her.
Kari bit his lip and injected poison into his blood stream, "I believe you established that you thought that the first time kicked you." Kari hissed back trying to get him to release her.
Kagome watched as Kari destroyed the guards within seconds, 'That explains why there is new guards everyday.' She thought sarcastically. Sesshoumaru tried to get to Kari and was pushed back gently by the barrier. He was snarling angrily. Kagome looked back in time to see Kari bite Naraku and it was just a faint glimmer but she also saw a speck of blue going out of Kari's fangs. Poison.
Sesshoumaru saw it too and stopped struggling; the girl obviously had things under control, he hoped. He watched as Kari bit her lip when Naraku placed new wards on her. They were brand new and looked almost like little chains. Naraku watched as they did their work with a look of sick satisfaction on his face. Kari stayed in her true form but was completely drained of her powers. Sesshomaru's eyes widened when Naraku did that, it was a disgrace to pure breeds to have that done to them and Kari looked like she was going to cry
"What's wrong puppy?" Naraku asked Kari just snarled at him like a raging youkai would. Naraku got the hint and ran out of the cell as quickly as possible.
Kari watched as Naraku left laughing like a maniac as he went. Once he was gone she shed silent tears. The shields around Kagome and Sesshoumaru shattered and Kagome ran to Kari and tried to comfort her.
Sesshoumaru watched Kari closely. Something about it didn't seem right, that's when he realized that she had the symbol for the Ruler of Light City on her forehead, she, like him, was royalty.
"Mononoke. Kari Konoko Mononoke." He whispered quietly, "She went missing 2 years ago when negotiating a anti-slavery treaty; here." He grabbed Kari's arm and pulled her to her feet not caring if he hurt her. "That's who you are. Isn't it?"
Kari struggled to get out of his grip but couldn't.
"Let go!" She whined, "Let go. Let go. Let go!" Kagome looked at Sesshoumaru questioningly.
"This girl is royalty above even This Sesshoumaru and she knows it." Kari stopped moving suddenly and looked at Sesshoumaru's face. She spotted the Crescent there almost immediately.
"How?" Was the single word she uttered.
"Word got to my father that you had been captured on a peace campaign and I decided to find out if it was true. It led me here, the last place you were. Do these people even know what your capable of?"
Kari shook her head no. "They saw me and mistook me for a youkai, they still think I'm some kind of a mix breed that's why when ever I meet a youkai I say my species, this way they don't think that I will sit around and deal with them trying things. Though the guards and slave traders refuse to believe it."
Sesshoumaru shook his head at Kari's intellect. She had adapted to the situation and made it so that no one that wanted to cause her harm would find out who she was. She was safe this way. The only thing was that she had no place to go.
"My father heard that your city was overrun by these people, they killed them all, I'm sorry. He said to tell you if I found you that you would have a place above everyone in Japan and could live there. You would keep the status you held and you do as you used to, advise him on things. He won't listen then things will go to hell for you to put everything back together again."
"I highly doubt he told you to say that last part but you know what?" Kari looked at them to see them shake their heads no. "I think I like that idea. Now I just have to find a way to get us all out of here." Kari sat down on the floor again and a few hours later small boy came around the corner carrying two trays of food. He opened the door and walked in,
"Hey Kari." He smiled showing off his human looking teeth, " Naraku said that I was to make sure you didn't take these guys food so I stole some from my dinner for you. I will have you a decent meal in about 3 days." Kagome looked at the boy with interest. As if Kari had read her mind she spoke up,
"His name is Shippo. He helps me most of the time and he gets me food once a month. He's the only one I don't kill or attack when they come near me so they let him talk to me once and a while. This is a transformation I made him when I first met him; he's really a kitsune. This way no one suspects anything." Kari explained as Shippo passed the new additions their food.
"Oh by the way Kari. I get to come here three times daily now and I have to stay through out the meal and that means I can help you with your plans some more."
Kari smiled brightly. Sesshoumaru turned his head to the side listening to something.
"Kari, the guards are coming."
"Why?" Shippo asked looking at Kari as of he knew she had done something.
"How am I supposed to know? I haven't killed the hanyou. Yet. So I don't see a problem."
The guards came into view carrying Naraku between them. Naraku was sweating as if he had run a marathon. Kari smirked, enjoying him looking like that after he had tried to rape her once again that day.
The guards glared at her, "If we release your powers and you heal him he said he'll give you a meal." He gave her a look, she hadn't been given food in 6 months as far as he knew and she had to be starving."
Kari liked the idea of food but didn't care, "No, I won't heal him."
Naraku's voice was raspy when he talked but it came out, "What do you want then, bitch?"
"For you to release all the people I say from the cells and your service and for you to take off the wards."
Naraku looked up at her straight face and he realized that she knew how to negotiate, or blackmail, he couldn't tell which it was at the moment; he knew that he had been poisoned and would die if her didn't get the girl's help.
"Fine. Release." The wards around Kari fell off and her powers returned in full.
" I want Sesshoumaru, Kagome, Shippo…" Kari turned to the others, "Anyone else?"
"There is this girl down in young wards, her name is Rin." Shippo said instantly. Kari looked at the other two youkai, "No one." Kari nodded to them.
"I want Sesshoumaru, Kagome, Shippo, the little girl, Rin and myself to be released."
"Fine, now heal me." Naraku spit up some blood.
"No, I want the little girl here first." The guards ran down the halls and were back in a few seconds with a little girl that was struggling frightfully in their arms.
"Rin!" Shippo squealed. A few glares in his direction shut him up.
Kari stepped over Naraku and waved her hand at him, he started to heal slowly.
"Once I'm safely away from this hell hole you'll fully heal." Kari grabbed the little girl and walked out, the other following closely.
"Shall we actually trust who she says she is Sesshoumaru? It could be a fake." Kagome asked a bit nervous.
"I only met the ruler of Light City once but she has a distinct way of doing things, it can't be copied. I am positive that this is her." Sesshoumaru walked out quickly after kari having to run to catch up.
