Authors Notes: This is my first fanfiction. I wrote this way back in the Summertime before season 8 began. We heard news that Oliver was coming back and that he would be staying, as well as Lois having second thoughts about their relationship. So I prompted myself to write a little drabble about the potential reuniting between them (which so did not play out well in the actual season, Lois being super concerned and rethinking her decision to end things while Oliver was on the poison. There was no response on his side until Bride when he was there for her concerning Clark). Anyway so I came across this little ditty again, fixed a few things, and decided to post it now. Enjoy!

The sound of a throat being cleared caused Lois to look up from the leaves of papers she'd been shuffling through.
It was to her surprise that Oliver Queen was standing there at her desk at the Daily Planet.
Lois' mouth dropped open and she blinked. "Oliver?"
Oliver laughed and opened his arms, which Lois jumped up from her chair and ran into, giving him a tight hug. She pushed back so she could look up at the handsome face she hadn't seen (but secretly missed) since she let him go for the greater good. "What are you doing here? When did you get back?"
Oliver gently cupped her cheek. "Today, actually. I just landed half an hour ago and came straight here." He smirked, "I didn't want a repeat of last time."
Lois laughed softly. "Well, I can't say it's not good to see you again." She swallowed the lump that started forming in her throat. "After the way we ended things..."
Oliver interrupted. "Yeah, about that..." He sighed. "Look Lois, I'm not saying that it will be easy, but it will be different this time. My business transfered me here to Metropolis. And I know it's probably selfish of me to ask you to pick up where we left off just because this is where I am now, but... I'm here to stay..."
Lois put a finger to his lips, shaking her head. "Ollie, I'm not sure that's what we need right now. I think... you're an amazing guy, and it broke my heart to let you go last time, but... jumping right back into something..."
Oliver closed his eyes and nodded. "You're right.. I mean it hurts, but..." He opened his eyes again to find her hazel ones looking a sheen brighter than they were before. "I understand." He took her hand and his thumb brushed her knuckles. "Look, I still want you in my life, even if it's only in friendship. Is that something we can try?"
Lois smiled and whispered, "I'd really like that". He pulled her into another hug, relieved that she hadn't turned him away completely. He smiled and pressed a kiss to her hair. "I've missed you." Lois closed her eyes and breathed in, taking in the scent she'd missed from so long ago. "I've missed you too, Ollie."
'They would try, but would it work? Or would she find herself falling deeper than she had before?' These were the thoughts going through Lois' mind as she sunk further into his embrace. 'This will be interesting'.
