AN: It's been a while since I wrote anything for FMA, so I figured I'd at least be able to give you this story. Yeah, I'm sorry, guys. It seems Durarara has taken over my life~
There are some things that stay with him, actually. He still doesn't swear in churches. Not because he was religious, because Alchemists never are, but because it just doesn't feel right. After a while, he starts avoiding such places all together, but, on rare occasions when he's there, he keeps his mouth clean.
He likes reading, though he never does anymore. He scowls when he watches those boys reading too, but he decides not to associate that particular habit with that man. Plenty of people like to read, after all. Still, he can't seem to find as much enjoyment in books as he once did. He blames them, of course.
Sometimes, he wonders what would have happened if that man had taken him with him, rather than leaving him with her. Honestly, he thinks, it probably wouldn't have made a difference. Still, when he sees Sloth with Wrath, he wonders whether or not Trisha would have made a good mother – whether she would have cared for him the way she cared for her own sons. He never thinks along those lines for too long, because he's scared of what will happen if he does.
He tries to avoid thinking about things that remind him of the past, but everything does. In the end, he stops trying to forget. It's just easier to mindlessly destroy. Once everyone's dead, he won't have to remember anymore. So he'll be able to forget– those boys, that man, her, the other Homunculi – everything. And when it's all over, he'll just tell himself that they deserved it.
