And then she remembered why she hated every season. Why she hated the thought of everyday, and the loss she felt rising to the rosy dawn. Something was missing, and she knew exactly what it was.
This, although, did not stop the guilt she felt every time she saw her reflection in the glass of a dew stricken mirror. She was being torn down. Step by step, inch by inch. Brick falling to her feet, stirring the ancient dust she left behind. Each particle holding something against her, and it was tearing her up inside.
Jess. The name held the painful memories. They say when one door shuts, another one opens. Rory found this not to always be true, in this fact that her primary door shut, and she was left alone in the dark hallway, screaming at the top of her lungs with no one to hear her.
The pressure to be perfect, to impress everyone, to keep everything standing upright bottled inside her, and it soon exploded. The pain and guilt she had built up over the last couple months spilled out on the floor, dripping from her lips. And this was tearing her down.
She was lost. He left her lost. Yet, he was now standing in front of her, talking to her, begging her. She constantly looked from his eyes to his lips. She could see them moving, the fear in his eyes giving them away, but she could hear no sound. The words fell to the floor, unheard by her ears, but stressed by his lips.
"Rory." She heard her name, and was cruelly snapped back into reality. The reality she hoped she dreamed, but was being forced to live. He still stood in front of her. His eyes begged to be forgiven.
"Yeah." She replied softly. The words were coming easier now, and the dark hallway was starting to fade away. The black slowly turning to gray, before color seeped through, and she could see the bright spring trees swaying in the breeze.
She could talk to him now, her mental state being returned to normal. Back to the naïve girl that once possessed her body. She was wiser to say the least, but still sweet, and innocent.
"I want to talk. We need to talk." His voice was soft. A smile spread to her lips. Talk. She could do that. Of course the dust would kick up every once in a while. Filling up her mouth and nose so she couldn't breathe, and would choke on her words. But that's what he did to her.
He choked her new self, bringing her back to that little girl. But then she realized that was exactly what she wanted. What she needed, because the bricks that were built up around her needed to crumble, and he could do that for her. Help her tear down the barrier she built from the world. The void that she had been feeling was her old self. He forced her to live. And to live how she wanted to. She was thankful, because she had finally found herself again. Her real self.
