!SPOILERS! I'm placing this here now because I don't know what I'll type when I write, it just sort of goes on its own and I may mention spoilers for 3D at random. Even if it's just the authors notes.
A/N: I am utterly distraught by the lack of 3D fanfiction. It's been out in Japan long enough for those who couldn't wait to find a good translation and it's been over a week since the US release. I am disappointed fangirls. You know you want to ship Xehanort and his X crew with Riku and Sora. Looks like I'll just have to do the writing myself.
TYPO MANIA! After reading this over, I noticed just how much spell check sucks, so I'm revising all my newer stuff for typos and republishing the story. Sorry if you think something has a new chapter and whatnot... but I think FF fixed that.

Something Within
Sora almost always smiled. Ever since he started his adventures across the universe, he smiled. He was a naturally kind natured kid, but he still had traits any other human shared.
He felt anger, sadness, longing, remorse, and fear. But as long as he smiled and laughed, it would all go away… right?
After his discovery of how Xemnas lied to his own friends and somewhat technical family, he felt sick. It wasn't the lie that hit him hardest, but the fact he had mercilessly slaughtered several people and actually felt a bit happy afterwards. He found pleasure in murder.
At the time, he was entirely convinced they were all emotionless husks that tried to trick him with their human appearances, but no, if they didn't have a heart at the time, they were definitely growing one.
He mocked them, even the one that controlled water. Demyx wasn't it? That's what Jiminy's journal said at least. He smiled like a real person, actually told him the truth about how they had hearts… then cried in very human way as he faded into nothing. But did Sora question it? Not at all.
It came as a strange relief when he saw that the Organization could actually come back. It meant he could apologize, but would that really be enough?
What about all the other unspoken things he felt through his journey?
That strange encounter in La Cité des Cloches, it left him more than slightly unnerved. It may have only been a few seconds, but when he saw that boy in dark clothing he felt, things.
A twin image of himself.
Those predatory yellow eyes that weren't his never left his memory. Every time he destroyed a Dream Eater he thought of them. He felt blood lust, and it felt so right. There was a sense of satisfaction as its body disappeared, and he wanted more. Try as he might, a smile wouldn't wipe those sensations away.
His heart was a prison, or so they claimed. Something told him that it was related to his dark haired twin as well. There was something inside him. Something, or someone, dark and probably as evil as Xehanort, and not a single smile in the world could save him.
