Chapter One

Opening her eyes groggily, Sun Hills newest resident sat up and looked at her clock to see the time. The clock read 7:00am. When this registered in the young DCs head she shot out of bed with the exclamation of a few choice cuss words she raced to her wardrobe and pulled on the outfit she prepared last night. After that she got ready then woke up her three young triplets, John,Jennifer and Joshua, and got them dressed as quickly as you could with three four year olds complaining that it was too early. When they were all dressed and washed she sat them at the table and started to make a breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast.

"Mum, I'm going to start walking to school if that's alright I just don't want to show up on my first day with my mum dropping me off and embarrassing me." Twelve year old Mark asked his mum as he snatched a piece of toast.

"Sorry love but no can do I need to sign some forms so your stuck with me, now come on I need to drop these two rankles off with their new childminder at 7:45 and you know how they are leaving me, so grab your sister and get in the car please."

"Yes mum." He huffed as dragged his feet outside to get in the car with Daniella, his twin following behind him. I put the dishes away and cleaned all three of my children's mouths and checked that I had packed everything. I grabbed my keys and carted all three in to the car along with their brother and sister who were already bickering about something trivial.

After a five minute drive I pulled up outside of Abby's house and with difficulty got all three triplets out of the car and in to the house with only ten minutes of them crying and whining. It was 8:00 when we pulled up at the twins new school, Canly Comp, and got into reception.

"Hello, you must be Miss Hunter-Webb. I must say I didn't expect to see you again. Now I know you're in a rush so if you would sign there and you can be on your way." The head teacher Mr Burns told me as the receptionist gave the kids their timetables. "Thank you, now you two Molly will pick you and the triplets up and take you home, so I want you to behave for her as I won't be home until 6:00 okay? If there is any trouble at school then there will be trouble understand?" I addressed my two eldest as they started towards their first class. "We'll be fine mum. Now go otherwise you'll be late for your first day at work!" Danny called out to me.

I rushed out the door and to my car, luckily there was no traffic so I got to the station with five minutes to spare. I walked up the stairs to CID as the receptionist directed me. I knocked on the door to the superintendents office and entered as I was called in.

In there was superintendent Ocaro, DCI Medows and DI Manson. "You must be DC Hunter-Web. Right on time. Jack will you introduce her to the team please?" the super asked Jack as he went back to looking over the case file on his desk. "Of course. This way, now don't worry you'll fit in just fine. They may be a bit rough around the edges but their good at their jobs." Jack addressed me as we left the office. "I'm sure I'll be fine. It'll take some time for me to warm up to them though as I don't trust people that easy." I replied as we stopped outside the doors to the briefing room. "Just give them a chance and you'll be fine. Right team this is our new DC Adarina Hunter-Web." Jack said as he stepped into the room with me following behind him. As I looked around the room my eyes stopped on two people inperticular and my jaw dropped...
