She'll Wait For Him
The jeers and screams of outrage, the gasps of horror, the hatred aimed towards her feed her better than food ever could. She feels their fear and disgust for her and she revels in it. She can taste it. She loves it.
They have her chained to her seat, like an animal for slaughter, but she doesn't care. They sit in judgement of her, like she is bothered by what they think of her. She knows that whatever they think she has done, she has surely done things a thousand times worse.
She's being tried for the torture of The Longbottoms, and her husband and brother in law are sat with her. A compatriot, Barty Crouch Jr, cries and screams his denial, and she hates him for it. He was there, he helped, and he had taken her Lord's mark the same as the rest of them. How dare he deny their Lord?
She knows he will rise again, and she tells them so. She will wait for him, and he will save her, because he will know that she is his most faithful. Always.
She listens disdainfully as they list charges, as they call the four of their names. They save her for last. She knows, no matter that the other three are being charged with the same acts as her, that she is the main attraction. She feels a thrill at the thought, a perverse pleasure, because she knows that even in chains, she holds power over them.
They are scared to speak her Lord's name, even now, when they believe him gone, and one day, one day soon, they will fear her name just as much. Her Lord will ensure it. She will be his priority, even amongst his inner circle, because she is his most loyal. He will know that, because her Lord always knows.
The Dementors have little effect as they lead her away. She has nothing for them to take, because her memories, every last one that she cares about, are masked in the pain and anger she feels at her Lord being alone without her. It keeps them safe in her mind, and she can replay them over and over for as long as it takes for her Lord to fetch her.
She will keep her mind in Azkaban, and she will keep her power. When her Lord comes to get her, she will be willing and able to serve him fully once more.
