A Little Chit-Chat

Spoilers:From Atlantis: Trio (Season 4) and the Deleted Scene from Trio. From SG-1, Threads and Heroes Part 2 (Season 8)

Summary: Sam and Jennifer are talking about romantic life and past stuff while tieing a rope.

All mistakes are mine and I added some things to the scene to make it some pointers for Jennifer from Sam. The first paragraph is a summary of what just happened. The stuff added is well after they finish up with Sam's answer and such. Trying not to do a replay of the deleted scene but this is just a reminder at first but if they continue the conversation, this is what I think it should be.

Sam, Rodney, and Jennifer are stuck in an abyss. Rodney is translating the Genii language while Jennifer and Sam are tieing a rope they found. They have already started a conversation but Sam asks a question that surprises Jennifer. "Are you seeing anyone?"

"What?" Jennifer says surprisingly.

They look at Rodney for a second.

"On the base, are you seeing anyone?" Sam repeats.

"Well I kinda had a moment with this guy but he's kinda hard to read so the short answer is no." Dr. Keller replies."You?"

Samantha answers. "I'm the boss so I can't actually."

"Right. Of course." Jennifer realizes. "Anyone back home?"

"Um."

"Thought so. Spill it."

"Well it's complicated."

"Thankfully it's not a relationship that is mine."

"Ya he's in Washington and I'm here."

"Long distance relationship hun?"

Sam takes a quick breath. "Well he's going to retire soon so who knows."

"He's an older man hun?"

"He's not that much older." (Which I don't get by that because he was born in 1952 in the show and she was born in 1968 in the show and their 16 years apart)

"Older man, Washington, is he a senator?Is he famous? Do I know him?"

"Probably not. But I'm sure you do like someone."

"Well..."

"Thought so."

"Well I'm too scared to do anything about it now."

"Don't be. I've learned my lesson the hard way. Life is too short."

"It is."

"A tip is try talking to him sometimes. Find out about him. Eat together sometimes."

"You did that?"

"Yep. Sometimes I think I know him more than he does."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Sometimes I find myself very similar to you."

"Really? How is that?"

"Well from what I know is that your mom died when you were very young too right?"

"Well yes."

"Me too. My dad passed away 3 years ago. All I have left is my brother and we barely are in touch."

"I'm very sorry."

"Thanks. If I'm correct from my knowledge, what has your dad been saying for the past years?"

"Too be happy. You too?"

"Yes. But now I realize what he means. I'm sort happy. But if we were closer, I would be very happy."

"Hope you are. How about any close friends?"

"My best friend, Dr. Janet Frasier who was a doctor like you, passed away in the same month as my dad."

"Very sorry."

"It's not your fault in any way. So get that feeling to be happy with someone."

"Okay, I'll take your advice. How long have you had that feeling for? What age exactly?"

"I would say, I had the feeling for 11 years and started at 29."*

"Really, that long?"

"Yes."

"Wow. So you haven't done anything until now?"

" Yes. That's..." Trying to think what to say. "A long time. But why?"

"It's complicated."

"I can see why you would say that."

"Ya. Trust me. It wasn't a good idea."

"Okay, you proven what should do. I'll try it."

"The rope is now finished. Let's try it. McKay."

"Coming." McKay replies.

* I don't know what age Sam was exactly but I did the math. I'm sorry if I got it wrong.
