What We've Become

After the end of the Golden Age, he found a new planet full of life, but E. Aster Bunnymund preferred to be alone. The Pooka had his eggs, but he would never admit how truly alone he felt.

But after centuries, everything changed. Pitch Black returned. When the time came to face the nightmare king, the Pooka found himself fighting alongside others again. A bandit from the north, the queen of the fairies, and the Dreamweaver from the stars. With the fearlings and Pitch defeated, it was time for the unlikely allies to part ways.

But the Man in Moon had other plans. The Dreamweaver already helped him protect the children from fear and spread light, but he couldn't do it alone. So the queen continued collecting and protecting memories. The bandit, with his elves and the yetis, made wonders to share with the world. And the Pooka found himself bringing hope, something he had all but given on, into the world.

The allies, Guardians MiM called them, spent centuries protecting the children. But even with his fellow Guardians, his friends, there was a hole in Bunny's chest. Sometimes decades passed between meetings between them. Then everything changed again.

Pitch Black returned again. The Guardians thought they were ready, but MiM disagreed. A winter spirit was sent to them to help. Bunny had come across the spirit before and wasn't impressed. The Dreamweaver was the only one who didn't doubt the boy. In the end the boy saved not only the Guardians but also the children of the world.

The Guardians started meeting once a month, instead of once every few decades. Bunny grumbled about this at first (even if it didn't really upset him), but North only stated that they owed it to Jack. He'd huff in annoyance, but his ears still lowered with guilt. As time passed, Bunny noticed the changes in his friends.

North spent less time in his private workshop and more with the yetis, elves, and even Jack when he visited. Tooth returned to the field and Baby Tooth began to help her with managing the collects. Sandy made more time to spend with the other and some nights traveled the globe with Jack or even Nightlight. Even Bunny spent less time in the Warren and more on the surface. He also noticed Jack's smiles seemed less forced, the hope shining brighter in his eyes, and how the winter spirit disappeared less often.

The Guardians made more time for each other and Bunny realized. They were barely friends before even after centuries, but Jack Frost made them a family. And Bunny began to heal.
