Title: "The Steadfast Tin Soldier"

Words: 190

Summary: For the Little White Dove's LJ community writing table In the Dark, with the prompt Dancing in the Dark. I decided to stick my neck out and try a bit of poetry. Most of it's written in free verse. Basically this poem is a SessRin take on the story by Hans Christian Andersen, which is, personally, one of my favorite fairytales.

For you, ballerina, I would do anything,

And everything, to see you smile.

For you, Rin, I would say anything,

And everything, to make you laugh.

For you, love, I would give anything,

And everything, to dance with you.

I know that in your young heart

You are in love

Believe in love

Dream in love

But you cannot understand, Ballerina,

My fear in love.

On these dark nights, a yearning exists within me,

A lonely soldier of dented tin

Is overshadowed by the radiance of a dancer's grace.

The Heavens would smile upon a girl like you, Rin

And bestow the sweetest kisses upon your face.

I remember when I first saw your feet,

The same day Kami decided we meet,

I was in awe, and disappointed.

You may say that you love me

But I know one day you shall see me as I am:

A man, broken beyond repair,

A man who cannot live as free as you.

So dance, Ballerina, dance.

Even if you were to leave me

Rin, know that I will let you go

And always stand ready

At the gate of your heart.

A/N: Well, I hope I portrayed things right. It's my first poem, ya know? I would suggest reading the story if you don't know it very well. (^-^) Or watch the youtube video.

Thanks for reading!
