It had been one of those days from the start. They'd had to roll out almost immediately, but not before an argument erupted between McGee and Ziva – egged on by Tony - over whose turn it was to gas the truck. To preclude an argument over driving, Gibbs had taken the driver's seat as a right.

They tested him all through the drive too, squabbling like siblings on the fourth day of a five day car trip. The team behaved themselves on the scene, for the most part, but back in her lab Abby was another matter. She'd been forced to resort to coffee as a caffeine source.

When the team returned, thoroughly annoyed with each other, Ducky was waiting.

"Jethro, what did you do to them?"

"Nothing, Duck." He'd only yelled three or four times, and slapped Tony upside the head twice. Really, he thought he'd shown admirable restraint.
