Some say love is limitless. Other says it has boundaries. People in-love refers to it as magic. The brokenhearted see it as a mere illusion. Love is indeed unexplainable for being in-love, they say, is a mixed up feeling of confusion, misery, gloom and joy. It comes at the much unexpected place and time and it is usually felt toward the least expected person. It is wonderful but painful. At times, it makes you cry but most f the time, it is the reason why you smile. I agree…
This is a story of the ever outgoing, sixteen years old Mikan Sakura. As a teen, she tends to explore and experiment. She tried toying with love because she wanted to see what love could offer her. Natsume Hyuuga, the smartest and the most sought-after guy in campus, was her target. Unfortunately, it was love that played to her. Perhaps the game was to test how far would she go and how much she sacrifice for love. Mikan got Natsume but things didn't exactly work out according to her plan. With the passing of time, Mikan fell for him and she fell hard. Everything between Natsume and Mikan went out fine. They had a few ups and downs but they got through it together.
The relationship was perfect. Until Mikan decided to tell it to her parents about it. The conversation with her parent started beautifully. She told them about Natsume; his achievements, his ambitions, his character. They seemed to be very pleased that Mikan found a man like him. But the aura suddenly changed as if somebody accidentally bumped into the kaleidoscope and change its perfect form into a quite ugly one. This sudden shift of atmosphere happened when they found out that Natsume was a Hyuuga…a Filipino. Her father totally disagreed with their relationship and even commanded her to break up with Natsume. She refused. Her father was furious. He was about to leave the room but before he did; her father told her something; the very thing that she never wanted to hear from
him came out: When she turn 21, she will going to marry a man who is a year older than her. It's fixed. The agreement cannot be changed unless Mikan would fall in-love with another Chinese guy. She was crushed. They did everything under their control to separate her to Natsume.
She tried to fight and stand up for their love but every time she do it, it's Natsume who pays the consequences. When Mikan sees Natsume in pain it hurts more. She has to decide fast. She followed her parents though it created scars on their chests and wounds in their hearts. Mikan knows that Natsume understood that both of them couldn't do anything but to let go. It's not what both of them want it's for the best.
Right now the sixteen year old Mikan Sakura. No longer outgoing. No longer happy, no longer free. All that she did amounted to nothing in the end just because of one barrier. She had to let go of Natsume, just because of one barrier. She was forbidden to love freely, just because of one barrier.
