The wicked Charators and the song isn't mine the only thing I qwn is the plot. This might be a Glinda and Eilphie or it could just them being friends. This takes place after the musical is over and Glinda doesn't know about Eliphie. Hope you enjoy the story.

Glinda, The good walked along the great halls of Emerald city palace. It had been a few months after her best friend Elphaba had passed away and she couldn't sleep. Each night the nightmares would return and each time would get worse. Glinda still couldn't believe that Elphie was gone.

She looked up at the night sky tears falling down her face. Her heart ached with pain of both guilt and love. Love could it be that she felt more then just friendship towards her friend. As the tears kept on pouring down her face she started to sing.

I know we've been friends forever
But now I think I'm feeling something totally new
And after all this time I opened up my eyes
Now I see you were always with me

'Well not any more,' she thought bitterly. Taking a breath she continued.

She sighed heavily and walked over to her bed. Inside her bed side table drawer was a picture of her and Elhpie on the first and last grand trip together. Glinda remembered how at first she had loathed the green skin girl. Yet Elphie was always there for her when she needed her the most. Giving a nervous laugh she started up again with a small smile on her face.

Just then she heard a voice call her from the closed door, "Your Goodness, are you alright?" Glinda quickly placed the picture under her pillow and called back, "Yes, I'm fine."

When the foot steps faded away Glinda pulled out the picture again and walked over the window. She could just see the tips of the sun peeking over the horizon. Looking down at the picture she sang.

'Cause today is the start of the rest of our lives

She placed the picture down and opened the window to allow the warm, slightly chilly air into the room. She breathed in deeply and sang out to the heavens. She did she thought she could hear another voice joining her own. It was Eilphie's voice and they sang together.

Glinda smiled as the she sang the last word and looked up at the heavens. She knew in her heart that her best friend, maybe even lover was out there somewhere and that she was alive and well. Keeping the windows open she turned and started this new day with a new hope and love that she would carry within her heart for ever.
