All because of you by tell me somethin' please.
Notes: This is just a short story that happened after the events of Naruto (or at least as far as I've read). But that doesn't matter. So ummmmm just read on and enjoy. -_-
Naruto and Sasuke sat beside each other, both staring simply at the ground. They were in the 'old training ground' as it was now called, their first mission whizzing in their minds, the happier times. Suddenly Naruto turned to Sasuke, beaming, as he said, to cut the quiet, "It's all because of you, yah know that Sasuke?"
"Hmmmmmm?" Sasuke turned to face him.
"Well," Naruto elaborated, "If you hadn't been born, I wouldn't have had a great rival."
Sasuke shook his head, "There's Shikamaru, Neji, Kiba, Shino, Choji, maybe even Gaara. No…you didn't need me."
Naruto pondered for a moment the replied, "That day on the bridge all those years ago, you saved me. If you hadn't been there…saved me from Haku, near killing yourself, which helped me to release the Nine-tail's chakra, I would have been killed."
Again Sasuke shook his head, "Anyone else would have saved you. Anyone."
Now it was Naruto's turn to shake his head, "Yes, they would've. But they wouldn't have saved me in such a stupid manner!" He grinned at the last comment, "they would think of some long winded plan that would've left us stuck in the mirrors. No…no, If you hadn't saved me like that, the Kyuubi would probably been stuck inside of me. It's all because of you, Sasuke."
Sasuke grunted.
"A…and," Naruto stammered, trying to think of more reasons, "and If you hadn't learned the Chidori, then I wouldn't have gotten jealous and was urged to learn the Rasengan. See!" he nudged Sasuke, "You helped!"
Sasuke, again, shook his head, "No…I was jealous." He shifted, uncomfortably, under Naruto's surprised gaze then explained, "You Beat Gaara, and you summoned a huge toad, the chief toad Gamabunta no less, and saved Sakura from Gaara. I…was jealous."
After he was told that, Naruto beamed, and started again, "Yeah…well…If you hadn't," his eyes clouded over in memory, "well…you know, left for Orochimaru then I wouldn't have wanted to get stronger than Orochimaru. In fact," he continued, "if I hadn't met you then I wouldn't have met Orochimaru in the first place."
"Saving lots of hardships," muttered Sasuke, "But THAT I agree with." He nodded.
"Plus, if you hadn't gotten so strong," Naruto kept going even though he just found out he was right, "then I wouldn't have created the Rasenshuriken."
Again Sasuke nodded, simply letting Naruto have his victories.
And finally came Naruto's last comment, "And If you hadn't," his voice dropped deathly low, "attacked Konaha," he paused again remembering, "then I wouldn't have gotten to be…Hokage…so fast."
They both sat their on the grounds bench pondering for awhile. Then Naruto finally broke the silence.
"Well, guess I'll be going!" he yelled as he stood up, "See ya tomorrow."
Sasuke waved a hand at the retreating Naruto.
Naruto grabbed his hat off a stone slab that sat beside a long pole. Beside it sat another rock. He looked at it, a look of sadness. On it simply said
In loving memory
Of the hero
Who helped the sixth Hokage
Defeat the grand threat
Uchiha Madara.
The last Uchiha
Uchiha Sasuke.
