AN: This is just something I came up whilst playing ME2 for about the fifth time, I just wanting to explore how Shepard would reply to her Mother if given the option to. My character is as follows:

"You have new messages at your Private Terminal, Commander" those words from Yeoman Chambers had sent a slight chill down Alissa Shepard's spine, who else wanted her attention today; her heart skipped a beat when she saw who the message was from.

From Mom

So I have to find out my child is alive third hand from the Alliance brass? Where the hell have you been?

I figure whatever your doing is classified, likely part of your Spectre operations. Just stay safe out there, and keep doing your mom proud. And sneak something through a secure channel next time.

Alissa sat staring at the message on her personal terminal, she'd headed straight to her quarters. Her expression was unreadable, just how do you tell your Mom your back from the dead and not exactly happy with your current circumstances. Sighing slightly, she began to compose a reply.

From Commander Shepard

Mom,

I've been a lab experiment for Cerberus for the last two years. The Alliance brass told you I was alive, figures they want nothing to do with me yet will bother to tell you I'm alive. I died Mom when the Normandy was destroyed, there wasn't any light just darkness, I thought back to our conversation whilst I was docked at Citadel wish I'd told you then that I loved you. I'm going after the Collectors with my Spectre status reinstated, I'm working with Cerberus not for them despite what you might hear on the extranet. I'll keep doing you proud Mom and I hope to see you soon, assignments permitting of course.

Shaking her head and logging out of her private terminal, Alissa glanced around her quarters before her eyes settled on the picture of Liara, "Maybe its best if Mom doesn't know what I've been up to." she whispered quietly before turning back to latest dossiers from the Illusive Man.
